My name is Maggie Mau, and I am a mom of two girls and two very sweet rescue pups, Hopper and Eleven. My partner is a longtime teacher for Saint Paul Public Schools and we have lived in the South Como neighborhood in Saint Paul for the last 15 years! As a family we enjoy camping, hiking and exploring our country’s beautiful national parks. It is not odd to find us hammocking up at Como park, picking mulberries and reading :) I enjoy running, gardening, reading and baking and hosting regular gatherings of family and friends. I have been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and have taken care of both adult and pediatric patients. I have also had leadership roles in medical industries developing technologies to improve healthcare. However, throughout my career I have taken leaves of absences to take care of numerous newborns. Hello families, my name is Amaea Brown (Ah-my-yah) and I’m a trained Birth Doula in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My philosophy about birth aligns with the humanistic model. I view birth as a spiritual/holistic process and I support the use of technology. The body is intelligent and capable of doing what it’s supposed to and mother should be comfortable with how they bring life in the world. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my child, reading and nature walks.

Two doulas, one team: you shouldn’t have to hope the right doula is available the night you go into labor. Ava and I attend every prenatal visit together, with direct, ongoing access to both of us throughout your pregnancy, so you know and trust us before labor begins. We alternate on-call weeks, so whichever of us is with you at your birth, the other is your backup — meaning the person supporting you already knows your story, your preferences, and your fears, because we built your care plan together from day one. This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

Hello, my name is Amanda Jurrens, and I am deeply honored to walk alongside you on one of the most transformative days of your life, the day you welcome your child into the world. My journey into birth work began with nearly a decade of experience in the assisted reproductive technology industry, both professionally and personally as a three-time gestational carrier. Those experiences lit a fire in me that has only grown stronger with time. Over the years I have had the privilege of supporting many births, and each one has deepened my reverence for the incredible things the human body is capable of. I am, at heart, a total birth nerd, especially when it comes to the biomechanics of labor. I am endlessly fascinated by pelvic dynamics: how the pelvis moves, how a baby navigates through it, and how small positional shifts can open space and work with physiology rather than against it. This passion led me to complete training in the Body Ready Method, an evidence-based approach focused on preparing the body for physiologic birth. Understanding the interplay between posture, movement, and fetal positioning is not just an intellectual interest for me. It is something I bring directly to your labor support. I believe deeply in physiologic birth, in trusting the process, working with the body's wisdom, and creating the conditions for birth to unfold as naturally as possible. That said, I meet every family exactly where they are. My role is never to push an agenda but to make sure you feel informed, empowered, and genuinely supported in whatever birth looks like for you.
