With my first baby, I was lovingly doula’d for a long, 76 hour labor, and afterwards knew that birth work was 100% what I was called to do. I received my certification through Childbirth International in 2023 and have attended labors at home, birth center and hospital. My days are spent playing outside with my family, running the meals ministry at our church, and making way too much sourdough. I have my bachelor’s degree in statistics, so I love researching and sharing about evidence based birth, but know that mama’s intuition can’t be beat!! Now on to why you’re here! After the birth of our first child, I realized there were some big gaps in the childbirth classes that we took. Before we became pregnant again, I was researching what we had missed and awoke a passion for childbirth and maternal care that has only deepened over the years. After our three kids were born, I became a Childbirth Educator in 2017 and a Birth Doula in 2018. I also delivered two babies as a gestational surrogate in 2019 and 2021. I decided to become a Midwife because my own empowering home births inspired me to provide that opportunity to other interested families. I enrolled in a MEAC accredited midwifery program in 2014. It took 3 years of academic work and 3 years of clinical training to qualify to sit for my National exams. My clinical training was in Utah, where I got very comfortable serving mothers having their 6th, 7th or even 8th babies, often after the age of 35. I also worked with many young college students starting their families. I served in several home birth midwifery practices, and attended births in 7 different birth centers. I learned from 18 different midwife preceptors. Upon graduation in 2020, I returned with my family to live in and serve the Grand Valley and surrounding community, including Eastern Utah. I In my leisure time I enjoy urban homesteading across the street from the Colorado River, and making music with my family. I recently gave birth to my fourth daughter (baby #8). I also love teaching and supporting the next generation of midwifery students in our area, and I consider every client to be a potential student!

My name is Sydney, and I’m a birth doula. I've been a doula since June of 2020, and work both privately and in a freestanding birth center. I love the outdoors, and you can often find me hiking, road biking, or rock climbing. I also play guitar, read birth books (and novels!), volunteer in the Rose Medical Center NICU, and am a high school student! As a doula, I aim to bring peace, knowledge, reassurance, and joy to everything that I do. I will support you in any choices that you make and be an affirming presence in the room. I help with position changes, counterpressure, massage, and breathing techniques, as well as teaching the partner how to assist!
