While my technical expertise and history are noteworthy, my doula journey truly began with my own unique birth experiences. God put this career on my heart and revealed it to me at the perfect time. After learning that becoming a doula could positively affect the outcome of a mother’s experience, I knew I had found my calling. My name is Sydney, and I’m a birth doula. I've been a doula since June of 2020, and work both privately and in a freestanding birth center. I love the outdoors, and you can often find me hiking, road biking, or rock climbing. I also play guitar, read birth books (and novels!), volunteer in the Rose Medical Center NICU, and am a high school student! As a doula, I aim to bring peace, knowledge, reassurance, and joy to everything that I do. I will support you in any choices that you make and be an affirming presence in the room. I help with position changes, counterpressure, massage, and breathing techniques, as well as teaching the partner how to assist! As a young doula, I aim to work mostly with young parents, and specialize in helping them navigate systems and advocate for the birth experience that they want. The local midwife lived next door and her stories and approach to what she did raised me to see birth as a symptom of health and that birthing people should always have constant loving support during labor.
