I have a passion for community assistance ever since I have knowledge. I remember as a little girl helped the elders after school at only 9 years old. As years passed me passion for helping our community grew stronger. So I began my journey in the medical field as a RMA in the OB GYN specialty. I still felt that I can do more for my community and one day in bible study a lady I met called herself a Doula and I asked what is a doula and once she explained to me what a Doula is I immediately looked into it and it was an instant match for me. I was already working with moms and babies but being even more close to my clients and the community was an extraordinary feeling of accomplishment. I got certify as a Doula Business Owner, Lactation consultant, Birth Doula, Holistic nutrition, placenta encapsulation specialist all to be an all in one package for my clients. I strongly believe that it lessens the stress when a doula can carry multiple specialties needed to avoid referring and the client to be seeing multiple appointments in a day. Hello! My name is Brenda. I am a Tennessee native, originally from Smithville. However, Livingston and Cookeville have now been my home for 17 years. I am the owner of Mom 2 Mom Doula Services. I am a wife to a wonderful husband, and a mother to 2 beautiful little girls. When I am not assisting women prenatally, in labor or in the initial postpartum period, I am spending time with my family, usually this includes hiking in the many wonderful state parks Tennessee has to offer. My interest in birth started to blossom at the age of 5, when my mother had her first home birth. In that atmosphere I felt at home with the Midwives and Doulas. That feeling only got stronger with my mother's next 2 home births. At age 21, I had my first daughter, unmedicated, in a hospital with an amazing Doula. Her willingness to want to help me however she could, more seriously pushed me towards my goal to become a Doula myself. So in 2018, I started working as a Doula, and then certified sometime later. At age 23, I had my second daughter, at home with the assistance of a home birth Midwife. It was a wonderful experience. Now, I am truly living out my dream, to be able to support women during such an important time in their life. I am so thankful every day for this wonderful career. I have supported women through hospital births of all kinds, home births, water births and everything in between. In 2023 I also got my StillBirthday certification.

Mary Anne Richardson, CPM-TN, EMT,RN (Licensed Midwife) Since August, 1994, Mary Anne Richardson as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) has been asissting couples with births in the Nashville Area. During that time she has trained and worked in hospital settings, and in the homes of clients. Her experience with birth includes management of: breech, twins, shoulder dystocias, VBACs, and hemorrhage. She has dealt with placenta previa, placenta abruption, retained placenta, cord wraps, and velamentous insertion of the cord. In 1997 she founded Tender Beginnings and was the sole midwife for much of that time. She is active in providing education to other midwives and students to improve midwifery care for mothers and babies across the country. In pursuit of her passion to improve the reputation of midwives Mary Anne has served two terms as the President of the TMA (Tennessee Midwives Association) as well as other positions on the TMA board and still serves the TMA as a legislative liaison. As a legislative liaison she worked tirelessly, along with other midwives, to legalize CPM/Home birth midwifery in the state of Tennessee by successfully lobbing for three different bills through the state Legislature. She has served two terms on the Council of Certified Professional Midwives a division of the Department of Health state of Tennessee as Vice-Chairperson and the Chairperson. Currently she serves as the consultant to the Council of Certified Professional Midwives reviewing complaints to the Council. Mary Anne currently sets on the board of NARM (North America Registry of Midwives) and is the Director of Accountability for this organization. While caring for families as a midwife and monitrice, she maintains three TN State licenses and she is currently active in providing education to other midwives and students to improve midwifery care for mothers and babies across the country. She has presented courses to students in local universities and colleges about midwifery. She was honored to serve as the Keynote presenter at a “Empower Your Birth Conference”. She has developed and presented courses for midwifery students and midwives, some of which have been accredited by MEAC (Midwifery Education and Accreditation Council) and a presentation at MANA (Midwives Alliance of North America) a international midwifery conference.
