Hello! I'm Hillary Kelly, an IBCLC in a rural West Central Illinois band of communities. I am a mother of 4 young kids, and each one of these unique experiences brought me closer to my true passion- working with new families and helping breastfeeding parents meet their goals. It is not always easy to access support in rural areas, and it is important to me to bring evidence-based and skilled lactation support to my communities.

As a master's level prepared nurse and IBCLC, I have experience working inpatient and outpatient at a teaching hospital. With in home or virtual visits, I am able to identify and treat breastfeeding challenges.

I was the mom hoping for a birth experience that was different from my first, one that allowed my voice to be heard, and to be informed in my choices. I was the mom who struggled to nurse my new baby each day due to a painful latch, worried it wouldn't improve. These struggles became passion. I educated myself and became a doula and lactation counselor, which has allowed me to proactively support other moms on their journey.

My personal breastfeeding journey started with the home birth of my first son in 2003. Like many mothers I struggled with breastfeeding. I found La Leche League (LLL), what a blessing in disguise! With the help I was given, I knew this was the path for me to help other mothers. I became a peer to peer breastfeeding counselor within the LLL organization. In 2005 my second son was born via an emergency cesarean delivery,14 weeks early! I learned so much about lactation & breastfeeding a premature baby. In 2008, this evolved into working in the hospital where he was born as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I studied and learned more about human lactation and I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2009. I worked in a hospital setting for 15 years. ​ My experience with two very different breastfeeding situations has fueled my passion to help all parents meet their specific lactation and breastfeeding goals. I graduated from Union Institute & University in 2015 with my Bachelors of Science in Maternal Child Health with an emphasis in Human Lactation.

We provide prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding support in the comfort of your home as well as through telehealth to help you with your goals. I was certified in 2015, and I have served as a volunteer peer breastfeeding counselor since 2011. I have a degree in Psychology and believe that the most important aspect of lactation care is listening closely to the new parent so I can understand their individual situation and feeding goals before working together with them to create a personalized care plan.
