Hey there, my name is Caroline Patterson and I'm a Certified Birth Doula under DONA. I've been a Doula since 2018 and absolutely love what I do! I've attended births in hospitals, homes, and birth centers. I have an herbal body care business and am deciding to pursue my path to becoming a midwife soon, as well. I live in Oregon House which makes for a unique location to be able to provide services in both Yuba and Nevada County and surrounding areas. I believe in holding space for my clients and making sure they feel safe, seen, and heard. I empower you by supporting you in making your own informed and intuitive decisions—you know your body and baby better than anyone else. While healthcare providers do a wonderful job making sure your little one is delivered safely, my main focus is on your specific needs, desires, emotions, and comfort. I’m here to witness you in your power and do all that I can to support you in your process. With the most care and respect, I will be a Guardian of your Birthing space.

Essential Doula Service Package

I use an economic justice sliding scale to be able to reach a wide variety of people who may need doula services. This is based on an honest assessment of where you land on the "scale" as far as finances go. People who hire me at the true cost of services help me to be able to provide services to those that may not have the funds to pay full price. True Cost: $1400-$1200 Middle Cost: $1000-$800 Bottom Cost: $700-$500 Includes: Phone/Email Support 2 Prenatal Visits Informational Binder Evidence Based Information Birth Plan Being on call 24/7 from 37 weeks onward Continuous Labor Support (from the time I arrive once labor starts, and up to 2 hours after the birth) Postpartum Visit Lending Library of any books I have that might be of interest (to be returned after birth) 2 gifts for pregnancy and postpartum from my herbal company

Birth As Ceremony Package

This is an in-depth offering where we will include into our prenatal/postpartum visits ceremonies and rituals, spiritual/mental introspection, clearing work with the purpose of honoring this transformation, and preparing for birth on the mental and spiritual realms as well as physical. With an understanding of the importance of doing our own inner work as preparation for pivotal moments in our lives, I will guide you through offerings and initiatives so that you can be fully connected and prepared for bringing your baby earthside. This package includes the Essential Birth Package, as well as: - Family Lineage Mapping - Addressing and clearing any fears that may come up during labor - Earth Offering Ritual for your pregnancy journey - Postpartum Cerrada/Closing of the Bones Ceremony (usually done about 40 days postpartum) -Importance of honoring the placenta. Available to give suggestions for burial ritual or can help facilitate if desired -Ritual for introducing baby to the Elements that witnessed their birth (mountain, forest, river, lake, etc)

What to expect

In addition to birth doula services, I also do Placenta Encapsulation as an add-on or standalone service. I'm also trained in Cerrada Ceremony (Closing of the Bones) which is typically done 40+ days postpartum, and can be done as a standalone service as well. Check out my website for more information.

Caroline was an invaluable asset to my pregnancy and birth. Throughout my pregnancy, she provided educational resources, a listening ear, and the tools to guide me through meaningful experiences. It felt so reassuring to know I had someone I could call/text at any time when I had a question about something or just needed to talk. I wanted to feel really connected to myself, nature and my baby during my pregnancy, birth and post-partum journey, and Caroline helped me achieve that. By guiding me through sacred ceremonies, I was able to practice these connections in a way that I wouldn't have on my own. I will never forget these experiences and they were well worth the investment! During the birth, Caroline was by my side the entire time and provided a much needed calming presence. She was so intuitive to my needs and was always one step ahead. From making me smoothies, to wiping my forehead with a cold cloth, to holding space during my contractions...I can't imagine going through birth without her. Highly recommend Caroline as a doula :)

Do you offer a sliding scale?

Yes! I believe that EVERYONE deserves to have a doula despite their financial circumstances. By having full-paying clients throughout the year I'm able to provide services at a lower cost for those who want this option. I offer my Essential Birth Doula Services using a sliding scale. My other packages are full price at this time due to the nature of the services.

Do you accept Medi-Cal?

Yes! I am currently a Medi-Cal Provider and am contracted with Partnership HealthPlan of California.

How much does Caroline charge?

Caroline's Placenta Encapsulation package is $350 USD, flat rate. Caroline lists 4 packages in all.
