Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.

Throughout the 26-year journey of raising my sons, and being a nanny and caregiver, I have gained knowledge, skill and wisdom. I desire to teach, help and support new moms as they “find their inner mama”. I am there to teach new parents how to care for, soothe, breastfeed, read “cues” and feel confident and comfortable in the care of their babies. As a postpartum doula, my desire is for families to ease into the huge life change of adding a newborn as smoothly as possible, whether it’s their first baby or their fifth, since each child holds it own challenge, and the needs of families ebb and flow with a new child. My heart is to support families in a non-judgmental way in all their needs, whether it’s sleep, advice, holding the baby, helping the baby sleep, preparing a nourishing soup, folding laundry, helping you find resources in your local community, or just being a veteran mom who will listen as you process all the emotions of your transition into motherhood.

Hi, I’m Kolby, a full spectrum doula! I come from a big family and have always loved birth & babies. I have been working with children for the past 10 years. In college, I studied nursing (my mom is a nurse), as well as reproductive health. As a doula, I love being able to care for babies and help families adjust to this new stage of life. It makes me happy knowing I’m making a difference in someone’s home. Building relationships and trust with families is important to me, something I take seriously as your doula. Prior to becoming a doula, I worked as an overnight newborn care specialist, nanny and infant teacher– supporting babies and collaborating with parents. I also LOVE working with multiples– I have worked with several multiples families including twins and triplets.

I’ve attended over 400 births and counting :) When not at a birth I spend my days playing with my son, hiking with my dog, cooking and exploring. Happy to help as a birth or postpartum doula, homebirth midwife, or lactation specialist.

Working with newborns has been my lifelong passion, and I've been on quite the adventure! Picture this: I became a first-time mom before I even hit 20. Yeah, not your typical start, but hey, life throws some curveballs. Luckily, I've always had this knack for knowing what to do with babies – call it intuition or just sheer survival instinct! Fast forward a bit, and I'm now a mom of three amazing grown children. My two boys proudly served in the military, one in the Air Force and the other in the Marines. Meanwhile, my daughter's out there rocking the creative writing scene at Emerson College. The best news is, I survived parenting long enough to level up. I became a Nanie for the first time in January 2024 with the arrival of my grandson! After over 25 years of experience in the child care industry and a whole lot of love and laughter along the way, in 2018 I put my passion and experience to good use and opened Blissful Sleep Newborn Care. In 2023 I upped my game and became a DONA-certified postpartum doula and became “Blissful Sleep Newborn & Postpartum Care”. Why? Well, as much as I absolutely love caring for newborns, I genuinely want to help other moms navigate and enjoy the wild and wonderful “fourth trimester”. I've been in your sleep-deprived shoes, I remember the whirlwind these first few weeks can be. And to add insult to the chaos, nobody handed us a manual when we left the hospital! So hear me and believe me when I say… I see you, I hear you, I’ve BEEN you, and I'm here to be that manual.
