I am CPR/First Aid Certified, a Gift Registry Consultation Expert with BeHer Village, and am currently training in my babywearing certification with Adjoyn. I serve the greater Cleveland area including Cuyahoga, Erie, and Lorain counties. I started my training in December of 2022, and I hit the ground running in May of 2023 providing both birth and postpartum support. When I had my daughter, I had an advocate but unfortunately, I still had to have a cesarean section, which devasted me, that’s story for another day lol, but it allowed me to see the vision I wanted to partake in this health field world. As a child I always stated I wanted to be an Obstetrician, so being in Women’s Health and becoming a doula has been a great opportunity and let’s be honest full circle for me. Being able to have that 1-on-1 support and advocate for you during your birthing journey is a wonderful experience. I am a DONA trained Certified doula, a nursing student with plans on being in labor & delivery, as well as plan on furthering my education by becoming a Certified Midwife. Lisa graduated from Kent State University with a BA in Family Studies. After working in various social work positions and working with many families in various capacities, she has found her calling. Helping build families, establishing breastfeeding and empowering people is her passion, and as a result she completed her certification as a Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Breastfeeding Educator, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Certified Newborn/Infant Massage Instructor, Newborn Care Specialist and Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant. She is also a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner through the AADP. Lisa also is the Director of Education for Summer’s Sleep Secrets. She coaches and mentors newborn care specialists and sleep consultants throughout the world. She believes that birth and parenthood are a sacred time in a family’s life. Thank you for taking a minute to learn more about me! My name is Cari Walters. After an eight year battle with infertility, including a full year of testing, medications, and numerous hospital visits, I started my own mom Journey. My husband was deployed to Iraq for the birth of our first child. I would have been all alone if it wasn’t for the close-knit military wives (and occasionally my mom who lived out of state) that encircled me during this precious time. If it wasn’t for these women loving on me and advising me before, during, and after my birth, I know it would not have been such a positive experience. I knew at once that I wanted to support and love other moms in the same manner. I started out supporting new moms by being a part of a group called MOPS. My husband returned from war and shortly after we were blessed with a second baby without all the fertility trials. I continued working with moms through the MOPS organization as we moved across the country to Colorado. It was there that I met a beautiful friend and fellow MOPS mentor who introduced me to being a doula. In 2020, after taking the 200hr course with 75hrs of clinical work I began my journey as a full spectrum doula. I absolutely love birth and postpartum work but quickly learned that I really shined on the postpartum side of birth work. I concentrated on obtaining my Newborn Care Specialist certification and Sleep Guide Certification to improve and round out my skills as a postpartum doula.
