When I think of nurture, I think of Lisa. I was a scared, first time mom of twin girls. I had no female role model in my life. Then we met Lisa. She not only helped care for my girls, she cared for me and taught me so much on how to be a good mother to my girls, while also being good to myself. I owe so much to her for all her support and love.

I had Lisa as a postpartum doula after the birth of my second child (when I also had a toddler under age 2) and after the birth of my third child (when I also had a 3 year old and 5 year old). From the start it was very easy to connect with and feel comfortable with Lisa; she is cheerful, funny, unassuming, and provides information and support without judgment. I appreciated gaining access to her wide network of resources and service providers (lactation consultants, pediatric dentists, etc) as we navigated any bumps in the road that came up during my postpartum time. Lisa accompanied me to several appointments, providing a helping hand as well as an extra set of ears as I made decisions. She helped me with breastfeeding, pumping and milk oversupply, and initiating bottle feeding. She became like a well-loved aunt to my older children as they saw their times with her as one big play date! Lisa also helped with many household tasks such as meal prep, keeping all systems of the household running smoothly. She was flexible to work with whatever agenda (or lack of agenda) I had for the day and could easily see needs and meet them. I am grateful to Lisa for the important role she played during the major transitions of adding children to our family.
