At Stateline Birth Keepers, our goal is to support and empower families through life's most transformative experiences. Founded in 2024 by Mikala, Jenna, Jennifer, and Jaime, we combine our unique experiences and expertise to provide compassionate, personalized care. We recognize that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are deeply personal and emotional journeys, not just medical events. By pooling our skills, we offer holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and informational needs of the families we serve in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. My journey into birth work began in 2015 when I was supported during my son's birth by a doula. Inspired, I pursued certification and have since worked with diverse families in various settings across four states. As a mom of two earth side kids, one angel baby, and a bonus daughter, I have personal experience with breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, and baby-led weaning. My son was born in a hospital with a failed epidural, and my daughter had a dramatic, unassisted home birth. Passionate about non-traditional families, bereavement and trauma healing, I support single parents, LGBTQIA+, many different families with unique spiritual beliefs, families through pregnancy losses, terminal diagnoses, stillbirths, and chosen losses. An adoptee myself, I also support adoption processes. Outside of Stateline Birth Keepers, I advocate for local foster youth, coach youth sports, and engage in the public educational system. I enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and paddle boarding, and I also enjoy crafting and thrifting during colder weather. Life’s an adventure, and I embrace every moment with a big smile and an open heart. I looks forward to being a part of your beautiful journey.

My journey to becoming a postpartum doula and lactation counselor began after experiencing the lack of support from medical staff when my first son was born. This personal experience ignited my passion to ensure that other mothers do not feel the same sense of isolation and overwhelm. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive support to new mothers. My goal is to help women heal from their birth experience, feel confident in their new role, and not feel alone during this crucial time. Amanda Osowski is an Infertility and Postpartum Doula, Patient Advocate, and the mama of a IVF miracle toddler, passionate about educating, supporting and cultivating new families through connection and community. As she walked through her own infertility journey, Amanda decided to share her experiences in order to reduce the stigma surrounding and normalize the conversation about infertility. Through chronicling her IVF journey, followed by her pregnancy, natural delivery, having a premature baby, a short NICU stay and challenges with feeding her daughter via social media, Amanda became hopeful that her story could prevent other aspiring parents, parents-to-be and new parents from feeling alone in their challenges. With a dynamic background in the healthcare field, Amanda thought she was both educated and prepared to enter motherhood. What she didn’t realize until after the fact was how much she didn’t know about the infertility industry, the impact of fertility treatments and their influence on early motherhood; as well as the intimate details of postpartum life – the physical, mental, emotional, relational and identity changes that she would walk through after pregnancy. A deep dive into research, support groups and her own doulas helped Amanda to come out thriving, and adamant about making that support easily available to both aspiring and new parents and families. Amanda works with clients in the Chicago, IL area and surrounding suburbs, and also offers a variety of virtual support services. Amanda’s instrumental support as a doula is coupled with meeting clients where they are at in their journey to parenthood, and providing the information, resources and the support system she felt was missing during her own experiences.
