In 2016 Angelica began her formal training as a midwife at Nizhoni Institute Of Midwifery. This includes training in newborn care, breastfeeding, herbs, homeopathy, and other holistic modalities. She has attended many births and has experience at home, birth centers and hospitals. In 2020 She became a Licensed Midwife by the Medical Board of California. . She chose midwifery because she desires to empower women to embrace and trust their capabilities to birth naturally. Along her journey she continues to ground herself, grow and expand her knowledge on birth practices and disparities worldwide. Sarah Tunney is a licensed midwife, clinical researcher and a former historian. She has been involved in maternal, infant and reproductive health advocacy for nearly 30 years. She offers home visits for prenatal, postpartum and newborn care, home births/water births, VBAC, lactation/ breastfeeding support, and at the office she provides full spectrum reproductive health care to all ages (adolescents to perimenopause).

Hello! I’m so happy you’ve found me. I love being a midwife, it’s a deep part of who I am. Since I was very young, I’ve had a unique love and wonder for babies and families. Serving families as a midwife is my dream job, my calling, and there is nothing I’d rather spend my days (and nights) doing. I’ve devoted the last near decade of my life to birth work. I’ve been privileged to walk with hundreds of families on parts of their special journeys. It’s through these years of experience that I’ve grown my passions by seeing how much work there is to do to improve the lives of families. My job as a midwife is to nurture the natural process of pregnancy and birth, and to continually evaluate when birth is normal and remaining low-risk, and when a higher-risk situation is developing. Ever since Jessica can remember, she has followed her calling to care for others. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse, and she has never deviated from that path. When she was able to formally follow her passion, she volunteered at CHOC hospital while in high school to care for sick infants. Jessica was accepted into the rigorous five- year nursing program at San Francisco State University, and was one of the 50% of remaining nursing students that successfully earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed her Board Exams to be licensed as a registered nurse. While enrolled in her rigorous courses at SFSU, she also became certified as a doula and donated her time to work with low- income families and assist women in the prison population at their births. Jessica’s experience during clinicals at different hospitals in the Bay Area made her question some of the traditional protocols that hospitals use, such as intervention in all births, even those that are at low risk. She began to explore other options, and was hired as an intern at The Sanctuary and Birth Center in Los Angeles. After graduating from SFSU. Jessica sought a practical balance and applied to and was accepted into the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery where she learned and practiced a holistic approach to childbirth. During this 2 ½ year program, she was on call 24/7 for births, prenatal, and postpartum visits that were sandwiched in between her coursework. Jessica graduated, passed her Board Exams, and is a CPM-LM- Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife. Jessica has participated in more than 145 home births, and over 200 hospital births; she is well acquainted with the protocols of both. Jessica believes that in order to be the best midwife for her clients, she must be as educated and knowledgeable as possible, which led Jessica to complete courses in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery program at Georgetown University. Jessica continues to further her education by staying up to date on advances in the health care field, and continue her studies at Frontier Nursing University. Jessica has officially graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing with honors. Jessica’s ultimate goal is to combine the benefits of both western and eastern medical practices to her patients. As of yet, there isn't any other licensed midwife that has the breadth and depth of education that Jessica has achieved. Jessica believes in including the patient as part of the decision-making process. Jessica’s philosophy is that a woman should learn to trust her body and allow nature to take its course in a holistic manner when she is low risk and healthy—intervention is not always the solution. Jessica will be the strongest and most ardent advocate for mom and baby. Mom must also be educated and informed, and thus, she has responsibilities too, in order to create the most beautiful and awe-inspiring journey that the miracle of life has to offer. I am Ashley and I am a doula and almost a Certified Professional Midwife. As a doula my main goal with all of my clients is to better educate you on your pregnancy on not only childbirth but the the physiological changes of pregnancy, movements, food, and exercises that heal the common discomforts brought about by those changes. My goal is to help you be your best self in pregnancy so when labor comes you feel confident and strong in the body the brings you your baby and continues to take care of you after that baby grows for the next 18 years.
