Hi there! I am a Certified Nurse Midwife, Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. As a woman and a mother of seven, my approach is a simple golden rule care model - I give women the care and experience that I would want as a patient. My role is to partner with and empower women with the tools and personalized care they need to improve their health and well being.

I provide out of hospital, midwifery care for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I also offer childbirth education in person and online. I am a Licensed Midwife and Certified Massage Therapist. Hi! I am a certified nurse midwife! I love providing women with un-rushed, gentle care. I focus on shared decision making and informed consent. We have 60 mins for new patient visits and 30 min for return patients- this is for both GYN and pregnancy visits. This extra time allows you to have all your questions and concerns addressed without feeling the pressure of an overly booked provider. I attend births at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and have a fabulous collaborating OBGYN for any patients with complications out of my scope of practice or those needing surgical intervention. I have a background in home birth and birth center birth where I practiced for 4 years- I give that same warm, friendly, present care in the hospital owned practice setting!

I entered the world of birth work in 2016, and have been focused on expanding my skill set to better support families ever since. I became licensed in California in 2023, and plan to continue pursuing a deeper knowledge of birth as I serve my community. I gave birth to my son in June of 2023, and am deeply thankful for the gift of motherhood and the ability to care for my child. After supporting so many families in bringing their little ones into the world, I am still in awe of the transformative power of birth. I hope that through my care, I can support and encourage more families to expand their hearts and perspectives as they welcome new souls into their lives. In addition to standard reproductive care, I am also passionate about offering whole-person care, which refers to healing a person’s body, mind, and spirit as a whole unit. Meet Arizona licensed midwife Giuliana Pica, the passionate force behind Empowered Goddess Birth. She launched this inspiring venture in 2020, initially as a doula and childbirth education business, all while dreaming of evolving it into a vibrant home birth midwifery practice. In February 2021, Giuliana dove headfirst into her midwifery apprenticeship at a local birth center. There, she immersed herself in the art of midwifery, attending both birth center and home births, while learning from an accomplished array of preceptors—including licensed midwives, certified nurse midwives, and a community-based obstetrician. Fast forward to 2024, Giuliana proudly completed her training and passed both her national certification exam, and state licensing test, officially transforming Empowered Goddess Birth into her dream home birth midwifery practice. Giuliana maintains both CPR and NRP certifications, has attended a breech training workshop hosted by Breech Without Borders, completed a shoulder dystocia training course through Spinning Babies, and has attended 3 midwifery skills workshops hosted by the Midwifery Wisdom Collective. She is passionate about and committed to expanding her knowledge base. In the spring of 2024 she also welcomed earthside her first child, Odin. His home waterbirth was a deeply spiritual and soul nourishing experience. Since then, she’s been savoring every magical moment of motherhood alongside her partner Nicholas, as they embark on this beautiful adventure together. With over 20 years of experience in holistic birth, I’ve worked in Belgium, France, and the US, including hospitals, private practice, and Birthing Center. ​ My husband and I moved from France to Austin, Texas, in 2012 with our two eldest children, and our youngest son was born right here in Austin. Talk about a Texan welcome! I’m also a certified Haptotherapist, having received my certification from CIRDH in 2012. Haptonomy, widely used in Europe, helps parents-to-be function as partners in parenting before birth. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, reading, hiking with my golden retriever, and camping with my three kids and husband.
