I love birth and all that comes with it! It's a passion of mine to help encourage women in understanding how God created their bodies to birth and help empower them through labor and delivery. I’m currently based just outside of Athens and offer a travel option for families exceeding 2 hours from me. I myself was high risk from A subchorionic hematoma that led to premature birth. After dedicating 23 years to being a stay-at-home mom for my three children, I made a significant decision in November 2022 to channel my time and energy into pursuing my passion for becoming a labor and birth doula. Reflecting on my own four deliveries, I realized the immense value a doula could have provided by offering education, empowerment, and encouragement to advocate for myself. I chose the certification program aligned with my goals, completing 27 hours of in-person learning. Certified by Childbirth International as a birthing doula since February 2022, Ashley is currently enhancing her expertise by completing postpartum doula training with the same esteemed organization. Her passion lies in ensuring that African American women have the birthing experience they desire, be it in a hospital, birthing center, or the comfort of their homes. My journey began in 2014, after watching the documentary, The Business of Being Born. I was shocked at how medical and sterile birth had become and how unfairly some pregnant people are treated. From there, I spent the next three years devouring anything and everything related to birth. I attended my first birth as a doula (unknowingly) in 2017 when my goddaughter was born, and I fell in love with doula work. I married my husband in late 2017, and in early 2019 I found out I was pregnant with my first child. My pregnancy was one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I gave birth vaginally in a hospital transfer from Atlanta Birth Center, to Atlanta Medical Center in November 2019. I have my birth team to thank for solidifying my passion for other people to have the experience I was blessed with. ​I believe information is our greatest tool. I will provide you with evidence-based information from a holistic standpoint. Outside of being a doula, I love to travel. I enjoy visiting new and familiar places with my family. I have over 15 years of public health experience working at the private, state and federal level. The importance of public health and living a healthy lifestyle has been my life since I was a young girl! My mother set the stage early in life by encouraging an overall holistic approach.
