I myself struggled with motherhood after my first son was born, but found a truly life changing experience while pregnant with my second. Scotty has over 28 years of experience in maternal-child nursing and has been a certified lactation consultant since 1998. In 2015, she reorganized the lactation services at Thomas Hospital (Fairhope, AL) and built a new program to more effectively serve breastfeeding mothers. She led a weekly Baby Cafe breastfeeding support group for 3 years that grew from 5-6 women a week to 18-25 a week. She resigned from Labor and Delivery at USACW (Mobile, AL) in February 2023 to work full time with Gulf Coast Lactation helping women out of the hospital setting.. She has been instrumental in creating a supportive environment for all mothers. Scotty continues to support women as they journey into motherhood. She is a member of ILCA (International Lactation Consultants Association) and the Alabama Breastfeeding Committee. She is passionate about holistic care in the maternal-child setting. She believes that all moms deserve a more holistic approach to continued support after leaving the hospital so they can be successful in their breastfeeding journey.

I have been a nurse for 16 years, an IBCLC for over 7 years. I have three children, 10,10,9. (Twins). After becoming a mother myself and truly experiencing the hardships, I knew my mission was to be there for these moms during the toughest phase of life. And my goal isn’t to make sure they breastfeed. While I do want them to meet their goals, I will never pressure a mom to only breastfeed. Everyone’s journey is different, and my job is to educate and support these families, however that may look. I want to be a resource for them to grow and thrive as a parent. I look forward to hopefully meeting new moms through this service:)

Babies have always been my passion! Like Tisha said, I always knew my career would be working with babies. I applied to nursing school knowing I was going to work in OB and that's exactly what I did. After having my first child in 2014 I realized the need for more lactation consultants. I struggled a lot with him and had no one to turn to for answers, so I began doing my own research. I was determined to make this work. And that is how my lactation career started! I started my lactation training not even knowing if I would be able to get a job doing what I had become so passionate about. My family and I made some life changes and everything fell right into place. Tisha and I always casually talked about starting a business but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would actually happen. But here we are! I absolutely love my job and could talk about breastfeeding all day long. I strive to do everything I can to help each mom meet their personal breastfeeding goals. I am very passionate about tongue ties and food allergies in breastfeeding since I personally experienced that with my 2 nursing journeys. Breastfeeding does not come naturally for everyone and it definitely isn't as easy as some think. That's why I have made it my life mission to educate every mom and give them all the tools and support needed to be successful!
