Birth & Postpartum Doula
Norton Shores, Michigan
About me

I grew up in west Michigan, cradled by the crescent moon grin of the Great Lakes. My desire to become a doula first took root in experiences I had volunteering with local organizations and non-profits when I was in high school. My passion for community-based care began in the basement of a neighborhood church, where I first volunteered with a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families find and keep secure housing for their children. From these initial experiences, I got to witness first-hand how important it is for families to be well-informed and unconditionally supported in order to thrive together. The roots of my work as a doula and student midwife are the same as they were back then, before I even began birth work : when families are given non-judgemental support and evidence-based education during their transition into parenthood, they can have the most satisfying, empowering experience possible. As a doula, I emphasize a client-centered approach where you are seen as the expert in your own care; together, using support and education, we will create a birth / postpartum plan that supports the health and well-being of you, your baby, and your support team.

Postpartum Doula Overnight Visit
Night visits are the cornerstone of my work as a postpartum doula. The main objective of an overnight visit is for me to take over newborn care ( or household chores if your family co-sleeps! ) so that you and your support system have the opportunity for deep rest & nourishment. During an overnight visit, a postpartum doula can : - Manage your baby's feeding and waking schedule so you can rest optimally ( I support breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, and combo-feeding families). - Quietly manage household tasks (fold laundry, cook a meal, organize your breast milk freezer stash.. the opportunities are endless!) Overnight visits can be scheduled between 8pm and 8am. The length of an overnight visit can be adjusted to fit the unique needs of any family. Overnight doula visits must be a minimum of 4 hours. All postpartum doula care is priced using a sliding scale. When you decide to work with me, you will have the opportunity to choose how much you pay per hour within the parameters of the pricing scale offered by Lakeshore Doula Care LLC, no income verification required. Sliding scale : $17 - $30 / hour Visit www.doulalauryn.com to book an initial consult today or connect with me directly at (231) 740-8487 or doula.lauryn@gmail.com All in-person initial consults / visits take place in the community tea room at Muskegon Yoga Center.
