Hi, I’m Laurie I’m so excited to be providing birth and postpartum care. I believe that good support early on means better outcomes for everyone in the family. Birth is a sacred, transformative time in your life—one that deserves to be protected, supported, and celebrated. As a mother to four kids (now aged 12 to 22!), I know firsthand how deeply impactful the transition into parenthood is, and how much the right support matters. I completed my professional training through the Douglas College Doula Training Program in June 2026 and am certified to support all types of birth, postpartum journeys, and pregnancy loss. My goal is to provide a calm, steady, trauma informed and completely non-judgmental presence for your entire family as you navigate these major life changes. Before answering this calling, I spent years caring for people in different ways. I worked as a hairstylist from home while my children were small, and later ran a cozy home bakery for eight years. Today, I weave all of those unique caregiving skills into my doula work—whether that means braiding your hair during labor, baking a nourishing treat for your kitchen counter, or simply holding space so you feel taken care of. When I’m not supporting growing families, you can find me walking the local trails, tending to the plants in my yard, getting lost in a good book, or enjoying time with my family. And yes, if you caught the nod in my business name—I am a massive, long-time fan of ‘Call the Midwife’.

You will not be disappointed with your choice of grace for birth and or postpartum, I have had 2 babies. My first was a very traumatic cesarean, So with my second pregnancy I reached out to grace and asked about her doula care. She made me feel confident in all the decisions I had to make I decided to have a second cesarean so she was not allowed in the operating room with me but she talked me through just about everything that happened, she made me feel confident enough to say what I did and didn’t want from the birth workers. She also helped me find a Midwife to go with, when coming back from the recovery room with my fiancé and I’s new baby we were greeted with a smile and helping hand with whatever we needed. Not to mention grace went above and beyond when it came to postpartum support, she came into my home and helped, she did dishes and folded laundry, helped care for my oldest daughter. She also offered to watch both so I could have a nap. Grace is a superior human and an amazing birth worker, I’m so grateful I had her there with me through every decision In my last birth and you would not be disappointed with her at all.

Hi, I’m Laine (she/her)! I am a full-spectrum doula, plant lover, and mom of two incredible little humans. My own journey - welcoming my first child in 2018, experiencing pregnancy loss, and later giving birth to my second in 2023 - deeply shaped my path and passion for birth work. Both of my births were supported by wonderful doulas, and their steady presence inspired me to offer the same kind of care to others. As your doula, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to help you feel nurtured, empowered, prepared, and cared for - no matter how or where you choose to give birth. I love working with new parents and growing families, and I hold space for the wide range of emotions and transformations that come with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My approach blends compassionate emotional and physical support with practical tools like childbirth education and baby wearing guidance. I’m also passionate about birth photography and love capturing the beauty and power of labour, birth, and those magical first moments together. Through my practice, I offer in-person Labour & Birth Doula support, Childbirth Education, Birth Photography, and Birth Equipment Rentals for families in Nelson, BC and across the West Kootenays. I also support families from afar with Virtual Prenatal & Childbirth Education, 1:1 Virtual Birth Planning, and options that make doula care more accessible when local support just isn’t available, or financially do-able. When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me tending to my plants, playing up at Whitewater, or keeping up with life alongside my two kiddos. Certifications and Trainings: Maternal Support Practitioner – Full Spectrum Doula Training (Bebo Mia) Essence of Birth Photography (Birth Becomes You) Childbirth Educator Training (Bebo Mia) Advanced VBAC Doula Certification (The VBAC Link) First Aid & CPR-C/AED (The Lifesaving Society) IPAC Training (Provincial Infection Control Network) I’m also an approved provider under BC’s Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program, meaning my services may be eligible at low-cost or no-cost. The Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program (DAFGP) is offered by the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Provincial Health Services Authority, and the BC Ministry of Health. The goal of the program is to increase healthy birth outcomes for Indigenous families by removing the cost barrier to accessing doula services.

Hi, I’m Sage. I’m a doula and the founder of Mommy Meltdown Perinatal Services. I started this work because I noticed the lack of a village when I could have used one the most. My lived experience is why I’m so committed to making sure no one else has to navigate the messy, beautiful reality of parenthood alone. I don’t understand this work just from a book, I’ve been there too. I am a DONA International trained birth doula, hold a COC in group peer support, and am trained in perinatal mental health and anxiety disorders from a non-clinical perspective. I’m here to support your body and your mind through labor and the weeks that follow. When it comes to birth, I’m a calm, steady advocate in your corner. I won't tell you how to birth; I'll be there to make sure you have the evidence-based information you need to make your own choices with confidence and the support you need to see them through. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect. Let's have a quick chat to get to know each other and talk about how I can best support your unique journey!

Sage was a huge help for us in those first couple weeks of postpartum. Knowing she was watching over our baby girl gave us some much needed sound sleep and her advice during that time was invaluable. She's so easy to talk to and incredibly helpful with getting back on top of our baby laundry and dishes. Highly recommend Sage and her services!

I Can’t Wait to Meet You! In the Meantime, Here’s a Little About Me. My name is Matea, hello nice to meet you, thank you for checking out this page to learn more about me as a Doula. But first, let me tell you about myself when I am not being an amazing Doula. I am a mother to three wonderful children, 2 girls and one boy. And in my spare time, I love to enjoy a good film with my boyfriend, read a couple of books, and do some writing! My journey to becoming a Doula began during my third child, when I got pregnant the last time I felt a profound sense of freedom, to pursue whatever birthing options I wanted to, I spent countless hours nerding out over the birthing process and realized that I wanted to share that feeling of freedom and confidence with as many mothers as I could. My first two labors and pregnancies to say the least were HORRID. Knowledge is the most powerful resource that we have going through the process of birth and parenthood, knowing what sensations to expect, what experiences you might have in a hospital or birthing room, what it feels like to have your first or second child, and what to expect when returning home. I have personal experience with all of this, and the education to back it. I make it my personal goal to be your partner in making your birth story your own, and not just the one that is handed to you in a packet from a doctor’s office. I would love to connect with you over a cup of coffee or a quick phone call and talk more about what a Doula can do to help make birth and postpartum a beautiful experience for you and your family. So what can doula do for me? Specifically this doula? Birth is a natural process, arguably the most natural process that any woman has the privilege to undergo. And our bodies are uniquely equipped with the knowledge and ability to complete this process. As a doula for both Birth and Postpartum families, it is my goal to equip and educate new families in the miraculous and powerful process of birth, whether it is your first child or your 5th, I make it my personal goal to ensure that you have all the tools and encouragement that you need to make your birthing and postpartum experience as easy as possible. A Doula is your own personal advocate, your partner in the wonderful process of pregnancy and postpartum. I have received my training to provide these services through DONA (one of the most reputable training and certification providers in the US). I provide a myriad of services to support and advocate for you during and after your pregnancy .

Hi! My name is Jesse! I am a birth worker! I have always had a calling for Obstetrics and all that it encompasses along with medicine! So to fill those callings I became a doula and a EMT in 2023! I believe that being informed in all that we do is important. Knowledge is power. And when you are at your most vulnerable time (giving birth) it is the most vital time to have all the information and the most support. My goal it to keep my clients informed, answer any questions, find resources. And help try to facilitate the birth that is wanted. I am a judgement-free doula. And am here to be a support person for you.

I want to start by saying when I first was getting a doula I had no idea what to expect or what a doula really would do during a birth. Jesse explained everything so beautifully on what a doula is used for, what the positives a doula can bring to a birthing experience, how doulas can help post-partum, and much more. I didn’t have too hard of a pregnancy but was diagnosed with Cholestasis in my third trimester which led to us needing to be induced around 37 weeks. I expressed my worries and scares with Jesse and we made a plan 💕 Jesse attended a birthing class with my husband and I as we were wanting to learn a little more about the birthing process and see if there was any educational assistance for inductions. Jesse was always one step ahead when it came to our questions and if we weren’t sure, she would ask or would try to find answers. The day came for our induction. We went in at 6am on the 13th and began the process of induction around 9:30am. Jesse was texting with me and checking in on me through the whole beginning process. I asked her if she would come once we got into active labor (which I didn’t know when that would come obviously) but she came that afternoon full of absolute love, excitement, and just a powerful presence. Through the full 39 hours of labor Jesse was by my side through every wake up, every contraction, every scare, every med pass, trying to get to the bathroom and then getting stuck on the toilet in the middle of contractions, reminding me to change positions, and every piece in between. The first 24hrs of labor were full of pressure releases, dance parties trying to work on dilation, watching a movie while trying to bounce on the exercise ball, and having LOTS of mental health check ins. My husband and I are so blessed to have had Jesse with us through this crazy adventure of our first birth, but I know 100% that we will NOT be doing another one without a doula. Jesse’s presence brought so much peace to both of us and made this rough labor a much happier experience to look back on. Thank you Jesse for all you do for the mamas and I can’t wait to reach out again for our next birth 💕 I couldn’t recommend someone more than Jesse to have by your side!!!!

I walk this path as a full-spectrum doula serving Skagit, Island, and Whatcom counties, supporting families through every phase of their journey with compassion, truth, and a deep reverence for the lineage of birthworkers who came before us. My work weaves modern care with ancestral knowing, honoring the understanding that my ancestors have always been the original doulas and community nurturers. Through Blakk Box Doula Services LLC, I offer birth, postpartum, and emotional support rooted in balance, grounding, and connection. My services include Reiki-infused massage, blessingways, placenta encapsulation resources, herbal teas and bath salts, yoni steaming, cleansing baths for trauma release, and intentional postpartum care that uplifts the body, spirit, and home. My calling is to create safe, loving spaces where birthing people feel seen, supported, informed, and empowered. Whether walking with you through pregnancy, birth, the tender postpartum window, my goal is to help you feel held—never rushed, never alone. If you’re seeking support that is holistic, heart-centered, and rooted in truth, I would be honored to walk this sacred path with you.

If you're looking for a Doula - Rachel is your lady! After our experience with Rachel throughout pregnancy and birth, I cannot imagine having welcomed our baby girl without her. She helped us navigate each step of the process, finalize our birth plan, and advocate for us in the birth room. My first pregnancy was amazing and Rachel played a big part in that. We will definitely be including her if/when baby number two comes! We are thrilled to have hired her and she truly made bringing our baby girl into the world magical!
