About me

Hello! I’m Katie Nyberg, a certified birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, lactation educator, and speaker based in Des Moines and Central Iowa. Since 2010, I’ve had the privilege of supporting hundreds of mothers, partners, and families through their childbirth journeys. My mission is to provide the essential care and support that expecting families often lack in today’s society. I love supporting all births and parenting styles. My goal is to help families feel prepared and supported as they embark on this new adventure of parenthood! In addition to my doula services, I’m a state-licensed educator and a frequent speaker for mothers, families, and healthcare providers. I love engaging with the community through interactive training sessions. Since 2015, I’ve been a proud member of CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association), where I combine my passion for teaching with my commitment to supporting new mothers as a Postpartum Doula Trainer.

Service introduction

As a labor doula, I provide continuous support throughout your birthing journey. My role is to offer physical comfort through techniques like breathing exercises, relaxation methods, and various labor positions. I also provide emotional support, offering reassurance and encouragement to help you stay calm and focused. Additionally, I facilitate communication between you, your partner, and the medical team to ensure your preferences are respected. My goal is to create a positive and empowering birth experience, helping you feel confident and supported every step of the way! This service includes prenatal appointments, full labor support, and a Welcome Home Postpartum Shift too. As a postpartum doula, I provide evidence-based support to help your family transition smoothly into parenthood. During the day, I assist with newborn care, light household tasks, and offer guidance on feeding and soothing techniques. I also provide emotional support, helping you navigate the challenges and joys of this new phase. At night, I offer overnight support to ensure you get the rest you need, taking care of your baby so you can sleep peacefully. My goal is to create a nurturing and supportive environment, allowing you to recover and bond with your baby while feeling confident and well-rested. I also teach a variety of classes ranging from express birth classes, breastfeeding/new parent classes, and advocacy classes as well.
