Hi there! I am a birth and postpartum doula based in Louisville, Kentucky. I am originally from the sunshine state and moved to Kentucky with my now husband two years ago. I have worked as a nanny for over 10 years for all ages— with a major interest in birth, breastfeeding, and parenting. Over 10 years ago, I answered the call to be with women in the childbearing year. Becoming a doula was my 1st baby step on this most rewarding journey! I advanced through nursing school and gained critical medical knowledge and insight working within the industrial-medical-pharmaceutical-complex, all the while retaining my grounding in the natural power of beautifully supported women. I started attending homebirths as the primary assistant to the midwife in 2014. Between home, hospital, and free-standing birth center settings, I have been honored to attend around 300-400 births as a nurse so far. In my journey, I have worked closely with midwives, learning the art of breastfeeding and participating in passing along this skill from woman to woman, even in the case of serious difficulty. I've coached hundreds of clients from all around the United States on topics ranging from navigating the health care system while pregnant, preventing cesarean section, reducing their risk, and so much more! My saga is only just beginning, and I want to bring as many women and families along this path as I can. Health is freedom. Hi everyone! I’m Lauren, a birth, bereavement and postpartum support doula based near Elizabethtown Kentucky. I became passionate about Birth about three years ago when I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter. As a first time mom with a medical condition that prevented me from having an epidural, I took a deep dive into all things unmedicated birth. I took the Pain Free Birth course with Karen Welton, I learned breathing exercises, had countless conversations with my husband about my wishes & really did everything I felt that I could to prepare for my birth. I fired my OB at 28 weeks and joined a midwifery practice based out of Charleston South Carolina and went on to have a beautifully unmedicated water birth after a 32 hour long labor. I gave birth to a healthy 8lbs baby girl and have been breastfeeding her successfully for over two years. My passion lies heavily in unmedicated births and breastfeeding but I serve as an advocate for mothers of all kinds and help them to achieve their dream birth and postpartum season.
