I started attending births when I was 16 years old, and have been hooked ever since. I worked for several years in corporate America, had 4 kids of my own, and was living the mom life. Just a couple years ago, I decided to take the plunge and become a doula. I have always been someone people came to for birth advice or coaching, or if they just needed a little encouragement, so decided to finally follow my passion. I have had 4 kids, all born at home. My first was an at home breech birth. My two middle children were water births, and my last one was 9lbs 14oz. Each was unique and beautiful. While mine were all at home, I love supporting women in whatever avenue they choose to birth in, whether that is at home, in the birth center or in the hospital. I am Mariah Prodan. I am a mother to a beautiful and brave 3-year-old daughter, who I breast fed for 11 months. I am a DONA trained who is working towards certification. I am also VBAC certified by theVBACline. I decided to become a doula when my baby sister expressed the desire for a natural birth with her first baby in April. I volunteered to be her doula and signed up for classes the next day. I now know from my own birth experience how important doula support is, I did not have the support of a doula during my covid delivery. A doula would have made all the difference and prevented my epidural. I have been a fulltime Registered Nurse since 2017 with the majority of my background in Critical Care. My career has left me with. I currently work in surgical recovery where most of my focus is on preventing and treating post operative pain through various comfort measures. As a doula my goal is to provide education to alleviate anxiety and stress during delivery. Labor is unpredictable but there is power in understanding and knowing what is normal. I provide my knowledge and expertise to assist and empower during labor. I also work to sooth the pains of labor through various comfort measures while providing emotional support.

As a military spouse, Aubrey has attended births all over the country and has supported a wide variety of birthing situations and locations. Her 13 years of invaluable experience includes supporting active duty Military families in Missouri, North Carolina, Texas & Indiana and serving low/no income families through nonprofit Doula organizations in Missouri (The Doula Foundation) and Texas (San Antonio Birth Doulas). Aubrey’s journey to become a doula began when she was pregnant in 2010. She began to really educate herself on all things relating to birth in order to prepare for the water-birth of her now 14 year old daughter. In doing so, a spark was ignited within her and she knew she had found her passion as a doula. In 2011, she suffered a pulmonary embolism caused by the use of hormonal birth control. While recovering, she kick started her doula career to help women become well informed of their decisions before, during, and after pregnancy. As a doula, her main goal is to help empower families to make informed decisions.
