Hi! I’m a labor + postpartum doula and lactation support educator. I have great experience with military and local families on the island of Oahu, Hawaii! I find joy in serving new moms as they venture into motherhood, educating them about labor, birth and postpartum! My goal is to help and guide women through what can seem like a scary transition for both new moms and seasoned mamas. I am a wife and māmā of 2 daughters, Emalani & Kapuahālaʻi. I love spending time with my ʻohana at the beach, eating delicious foods, and hula. From a young age I loved babies and taking care of others and I have had the opportunity to grow up around amazing women and mothers. I began my birth work experience as a lactation counselor in 2017 and after the birth of my hiapo (eldest child) I was inspired to become a Birth and postpartum doula. ʻAʻole pau ka ʻike i ka hālau hoʻokahi; knowledge does not come from one school. - Mary Kawena Pukui (ʻŌlelo Noʻeau) From my personal and educational experiences I see the importance of culturally relevant and relatable supportive care during the sacred time of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I first became interested in lactation when I was struggling to breastfeed my first child who had a tongue tie, along with other complications from pregnancy and birth. The caring, compassionate and practical support that I received from Lactation Consultants was life changing for me. I wanted to provide that for others. I've been working with breastfeeding familes since 2016 at a number of hospitals in the Tacoma and Seattle area in Washington State, and through non-profits and private practice on Big Island. I am a mama to a hilarious four year old with a decade of experience in healthcare as a registered nurse. After becoming a mother I realized that the health of mothers is foundational to the health of the planet. Over the past five years, I have used my experience as a critical care nurse and research nurse to dive deep into the current research and traditional wisdom on optimizing pregnancy, postpartum, and childcare in alignment with our biology as humans. Since 2020, I have been supporting mothers and families as a holistic postpartum care provider and certified lactation consultant.
