Did you know that a mother does not see her doctor until four to six weeks postpartum? Many health issues can arise during that period; it's comforting to know that your questions can be answered and problems addressed with a medical trained postpartum doula. I want to bring home health care back to its roots with at-home follow up care for families following birth. To have a trained medical profession in your home teaching you how to care for your newborn baby, while also caring for your entire family is a rare gift. Acupuncturists undergo four years of Eastern medical training which includes three years of Western medical training. I also happen to be a baby expert, caring for over 105 babies and being a single parent foster parent to a set of 3 month old twin baby girls. If there's one thing I know, it's the language of babies. A few examples of what I offer my families include: -Videos with helpful techniques such as putting on a nipple shield, pace bottle feeding, or multiple options for newborn carriers - Newborn care - Bottle washing, sterilizing, CDC guidelines for bottle care - Infant laundry and nursery set-up - Nighttime care - Errand running - Organizing anything Marie Kondo style - Dietary suggestions to help heal the post birth body, to address joint pain and for lactation support - Cooking healthy meals and snacks for family - Keeping mom hydrated, rested and cared for - Create a daily feeding schedule for Mom/baby that optimizes Mom's ability to rest and restore her body - Researched information on environmental and safe baby-care products and topics - In-home acupuncture treatments which aren’t extra cost, they come as a perk to me being your doula :)

I have been in the postpartum community for 20 years, caring for 108 babies. I've been a postpartum doula working in Kansas City and California for the past 7 years. I am also a licensed acupuncturist. I absolutely love to pamper my families! I offer overnight care, lactation support, product recommendations, schedule setting, newborn education, laundry, dishes, organization, and other household necessities. A doula shift with me includes complete care of your newborn, a full night's sleep for you! After a long shower in the morning, you will enjoy a homemade breakfast made by Vanessa. You and your baby will be happy, calm and ready to face the day. I realize that caring for your baby is of paramount importance to you - my goal is to always exceed your expectations.
Vanessa was our postpartum doula a few years ago after our daughter was born. She provided both overnight and daytime support for over 12 weeks. Vanessa is an exceptional postpartum doula, and what makes her truly special is her dedication to setting families up for long-term success. She went above and beyond, helping us reorganize and label our daughter's drawers and closets in a way that was far more logical and efficient than we had done ourselves. We highly recommend her to any new parents.

I hired Vanessa initially as a post partum doula. Her exquisite skillset and experience was beyond a blessing with a hundred things I didn’t realize I needed but made all the difference in my post partum care, new born needs and self care. The range was for breast feeding, sleep training, over nights, helping with my own self care as my body recovered. She’d even make me snacks and brushed my hair. Her skillset was marvelous with just knowing what to do and allowed me to sleep, feed and experience special moments with my son that are unexplainable.
