As a Certified Labor Doula working in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area since 2020, I offer personalized birthing, lactation, and postpartum support as well as childbirth & postpartum education. My goal is to give you and your family the attention and knowledge you need to make informed decisions about pregnancy, delivery, feeding, and parenting. I am inspired by women's strength and the miracle of birth. This inspiration is why I became a Certified Labor Doula through Maternity Wise and am proud to serve women and families throughout South Western Pennsylvania. I first became interested in becoming a doula in 2017 when I became inspired by a supportive doula I hired for my second and third pregnancies. I was later encouraged to become a doula by a close friend, who then was the first mother I could serve as an educator and doula. I have three little boys of my own, and have had a hospital OBGYN, midwife center, and homebirth experience. I know what it is like to give birth and navigate both within and outside the industrial birth complex. I have personal experience with low-risk and high-risk pregnancies and what it is like to be concerned about the unknowns on the other side of delivery. In addition, I have experienced the benefits and relief of having a doula present to guide me through the portal of birth into the role of motherhood. Every woman deserves to have someone there to guide and assist them in making educated choices about their pregnancy, delivery, and parenting. It is good to have someone to remind them that they can persevere during this time of newness. I'm here to provide evidence-based education, and emotional, physical, and personalized support, along with advocacy for your rights. Mothers and couples who work with me will find I highly value their maintained autonomy, including mother-led labor and delivery. I recognize birth as a non-medical event that occasionally needs medical attention. High-risk pregnancies need significantly more care than healthy pregnancies- but that high-risk model of care should not be used to care for all expectant mothers. In this vein, I acknowledge that women do not need to be empowered to give birth well or ecstatically. Instead, their autonomy, human rights, and dignity must be protected and remain intact. Under these aforementioned parameters, birth will naturally lead toward positive and non-traumatic perspectives of its' outcome. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, as a Christian, I am confident there is much truth to be ascertained in the metaphor of birth used throughout the Bible.

HEY THERE TIRED MAMA, I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU’RE GOING THROUGH! Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Erin McCormick. After becoming a mommy of my handsome son, Quaid, I was just as uncertain as you probably are of how to get this little human to sleep through the night. I was exhausted from getting up at all hours of the night. To make matters worse, everyone kept telling me, “nap when the baby naps.” NAP? My baby wasn’t napping long enough for me to fall asleep. What were they talking about? After countless hours of research, reading MANY baby sleep books, and trial & error. We finally decided to work with a 1:1 sleep consultant to learn how to get the most out of the important everyday task of sleep. After learning healthy sleep habits, Quaid started sleeping through the night (11 to 12 hours uninterrupted) at five months old! He also started taking long naps during the day! I decided to become a certified pediatric sleep consultant so I could pay it forward and help other mamas do the same. Through teaching my child to sleep better, I not only gained a happy, energetic, fun, loving child, I also gained my husband back. We have “us” time again. I have the energy to do the things I love again. I have time to enjoy those things or just relax when my child takes a nap or is in bed at a reasonable time. You can do the same!

Hello! My name is Emily Freilino, and I am a certified pediatric and adult sleep consultant and proud member of Sleep Wise Consulting. Originally from the beautiful state of Colorado, I recently moved from my Brooklyn, NY home to West Orange, NJ before finally settling in Jefferson Hills, PA with my husband and two boys. I was the Outstanding Graduate for the University of Colorado’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication where I also received a minor degree in Sociology. When I found out I was pregnant with my first son, Sullivan, I used my expertise in project management and my keen eye for detail to plan out exactly how I was going to manage our new bundle of joy. I read all of the books and thought I knew exactly what I was getting into. Boy, was I wrong! Sully arrived and while my husband and I relished in the exciting phase of having a newborn, we were also drained. As my maternity leave was coming to a close, we were still encountering multiple overnight wakings with short (or no) naps. So, I reached out to Sleep Wise Consulting. The Sleep Wise team took the time to get to know my son and our family and crafted a plan that was specialized for us. Within the first few days, Sully was sleeping through the night and taking great naps! As my son grew older, I watched in amazement at how smoothly our family ran and how happy our boy was with his new sleep skills. I saw friends struggling with their own children’s sleep and knew I needed to help others benefit from what Sleep Wise gave to me. I left my 10 year career in marketing and advertising, and decided to join the Sleep Wise team. I believe that a well-rested family is a family that has more time to laugh, hug and play, and I would love to help bring more of that to your life! My passion lies in helping others get the sleep they need. I will take the time to get to know you and your family and ensure that your questions are answered – I settle for nothing less than success and am excited to be working with you!

Our sweet Riley was the best thing that's ever happened..until it came to sleeping. I felt like I had gone from an over-excited mom-to-be to the exhaustion and lack of confidence of a sleepless mom. No one gives you a manual on how to care for a child but these sleep packages are almost that- everyone should have them. It changed my life and made me love being a mom. After working with Sleep Wise I was not only committed to continuing these healthy sleep skills in our home but also passionate about helping other families find the confidence and rest they deserve. As your sleep consultant, I commit to guiding and supporting you through your baby’s (and your) successful transition to restfulness. The skills I’ll help you develop will set you and your baby up for the years to come, making you the dream sleep team you always imagined!

Hi, I'm Jenn! Frazzled, weary, unable to concentrate...I’ve been there. I was a mommy zombie. No joke...it wasn’t pretty. Struggling to find a sleep solution with my oldest daughter was the motivation for my sleep research and subsequent training. After countless sleepless nights, reading almost every sleep book on the market, and hours surfing the internet for a sleep solution (all the conflicting information and misinformation), I came across Dana Obleman’s Sleep Sense program. It CHANGED my life. Fast forward a few years later and as a mom of two I was presented with the opportunity to train and be mentored by world renowned sleep expert Dana Obleman and become certified as a pediatric sleep coach and consultant. I JUMPED at the chance...and the rest is history. For the past eleven years, I have been working with families worldwide and have transformed the lives of over 1,000 families. I love the work that I do and have been honored to be named one of the top 200 sleep consultants in the United States for the past three years by TUCK (an authority on sleep).

Hello Parents of Little Ones! My name is Jessica Vonada! I have always had a passion for children, especially babies! My initial work with infants was in the setting of an early learning center from 2005-2009 while I was in college earning a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Education, specializing in ESL. After graduating in 2009, I taught for 2 years before realizing working with infants was my true calling. In 2011, I began working in the role of a Newborn Care Specialist, primarily with preemies & twins. From May 2015 until July 2017, I had the privilege of caring for orphaned & abandoned infants and toddlers in a babies home in Uganda. And in 2018, I received my certification as an Advanced Newborn Care Specialist. My journey to becoming a child sleep consultant began in 2012. At that time I was in a 24 hour care position with a set of twins. Initially their sleep seemed fairly on track, but after hitting the 4 month sleep regression, their sleep quickly began to unravel. By 6 months of age they were waking every 1-2 hours each night and the mom decided it was time to bring in a sleep consultant. I was skeptical to say the least! Much to my disbelief, within a few days they were sleeping 12 uninterrupted hours at night and began taking age appropriate naps. After that I had to know more! And in 2016, I graduated from the Family Sleep Institute as a Certified Child Sleep Consultant. As I continued as a Newborn Care Specialist and Child Sleep Consultant, I realized I was not always able to advise and assist lactating and postpartum moms the way I would have liked to. I wanted to become more balanced and be able to provide holistic support to the families I was caring for. As a result, I took the necessary steps to become a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and Certified Postpartum Doula. And currently I am pursuing the journey to becoming an IBCLC. I have a true passion for what I do and would love to help you and your family get the sleep you need!
