Hi, I'm looking for a doula or midwife who can support me in realizing my wish to have a physiological and unmedicated birth without interventions (as long as medically possible). I plan to give birth at the UCSF birth center. Knowing that 85% of women there get an epidural and 1 out of 4 low-risk pregnancies end up with a c-section, I feel like I'm playing against the odds, and I am looking for someone who has experience in talking to hospital staff and can help me know when something is medically necessary and when we have other options and advocate for those. I want to experience birth with all its hormones that get released naturally, with the pain, and the state of mind it puts a woman in, while wanting the best for my baby, and I understand that some medical interventions might be useful to achieve the best for my baby. I'm not looking for spiritual help, but for someone who values the empowerment and experience of birth, while grounding decisions in evidence and numbers, trusting in the power of medicine while knowing the system can be flawed. Budget: If possible, I'd love to bill my insurance. My insurance is Blue Shield HMO. If the vibe is right, I am also ready to pay myself. I'd like to know the rates for a couple of prenatal meetings, birth attendance, and optionally, a couple of postpartum home visits. Hello My name is Cécile, and my husband Tim and I are expecting our first baby, a boy, in early January 2026. We are currently searching for a postpartum doula to support our family during the first two months after our son's arrival. Our primary need is for compassionate postpartum care, including both day and potentially some overnight visits to sleep support, to help us navigate this new chapter as we will be on our own until my mother comes to stay with us for a couple months. We have a Kaiser HMO plan and are specifically interested in using the doula services covered by the insurance's package.
