About me

Skye Thompson Certified Birth Doula, CAB | Occupational Therapist, MA, OTR/L (Licensed in Minnesota) | Specializing in Pelvic Floor Therapy As a certified birth doula and perinatal occupational therapist, I love walking alongside families during one of the most powerful and personal transitions of their lives. With eight years of experience in mental health and specialized training in pelvic floor therapy, I’m especially passionate about how the mind and body work together in labor. There’s so much we can do to support both—regulating the nervous system, releasing tension, and helping the body move through birth with more ease and confidence. I’ve had two home births myself, and they’ve shaped the way I view birth—raw, sacred, and incredibly unique to each family. While I support births in any setting, I bring a calm, grounded perspective to those planning a home birth. Wherever you choose to welcome your baby, I work to create an environment that feels warm, familiar, and truly yours. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and our three young boys who keep life full of noise, joy, and adventure. You can usually find us biking along the Mississippi River, chasing each other through playgrounds, or hunting down the best local food trucks (bonus points if there’s a good coffee shop nearby!). I’d be honored to be part of your story. ***Client testimonials can be viewed on my homepage at www.HomemadeBirth.com***

Service introduction

Hi there, I'm Skye. As a certified birth doula and perinatal occupational therapist specializing in pelvic floor therapy, I offer Doula + OT packages designed to care for your whole self—body, mind, and heart—through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. At Homemade Birth, I believe birth is not just something you get through, but something you can shape into a beautiful, meaningful experience. Just like anything homemade, it’s personal, intentional, and filled with love. My role is to support your body’s natural design and help you feel safe, seen, and supported—no matter where you choose to give birth. And if you're planning to welcome your baby at home—right where you made them—I’ll be by your side every step of the way. Your birth deserves the same care, warmth, and heart as anything homemade.

Thriving Postpartum Training
This is an occupational therapy service. As an experienced occupational therapist, my goal is to help you manage the changes that come with having a newborn, ensuring you thrive in taking care of both yourself and your baby. Sessions: - Initial intake session to determine your family's unique needs (1 hr) - 2 virtual or in-home sessions working towards your goals (1 hr each) More sessions can be added for an additional fee Assessment Areas for Improvement: Postpartum Transition: - Physical recovery - Return to meaningful activities - Managing postpartum emotions and mental health - Balancing self-care with newborn care - Partner and family dynamics - Returning to intimacy - Sibling adjustments - Time management and household organization - Community engagement with a newborn - Developing support networks and community connections Newborn Care: - Establishing routines (feeding, sleeping, diapering) - Home environment optimization - Newborn behavior and soothing techniques - Bonding with baby - Developmentally suited play - Safe baby-wearing techniques - Diverse safe sleep practices - Bathing and hygiene Lactation: - Nursing techniques and positions - Managing milk supply - Addressing common nursing challenges - Pumping and milk storage - Returning to work

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Skye as our doula, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her support. She offered a wealth of helpful ideas and techniques, always tailored to our needs and preferences, and her thoughtful suggestions made a real difference throughout the process. Skye was always available and has backup doula's on hand if there would be another family in labor. She provided gentle encouragement helped us navigate each moment with confidence and we truly felt like we had someone in our corner every step of the way. We highly recommend Skye to anyone looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, kind, and deeply committed to supporting families with care.
