Growing up I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse. When I became an adult I realized the medical field was not for me. I worked at a daycare in the infant room for 2 years. After that I worked as a chiropractic assistant for 2 years. My favorite part of the job was working with pregnant women and infants. It wasn’t until after I was done having babies that I discovered just what a doula does. I was immediately convinced that I found my calling. I have always loved all things birth and motherhood. Shalom! My name is ChayilYah Segulah and it means capable women of God and His hidden Treasure! My doula journey started 10 years ago when one of my sisters needed support during her birth journey. She didn't have any support and needed someone to advocate her needs, help her express her fears and to walk her through a new birth. I began studying ways that I could help and ways to answer the questions she didn't understand. My Philosophy Sisterhood~ Village~ Shalom (Peace) This is my philosophy! Birth is ordained and designed to be a normal, natural process that your body was perfectly and wonderfully made to experience. My name is Undria, but all my life I’ve been called Angel, and I truly try to live up to that name. As a doula I have, and will help my parents with any questions they may have before birth, and after. No question is off limits, so I want them to feel comfortable to speak on anything that is causing an issue of doubt for them. I’m a breastfeeding educator, so I can also help parents get a good latch after baby is born, and I’m a true supporter of getting baby to latch within the first hour after they are born. I am also available to help the partner who hasn’t given birth feel comfortable with supporting their partner on this journey so that both can be leaning post for each other.
