Hello! We are thrilled to be expecting our second baby in early December. Our firstborn will be roughly 18 months at that time. Like our first, I plan to labor at home and then transfer to Kaiser Oakland when it is time. Ideally (and knowing that all plans can go out the window) this birth would include utilizing holistic pain management at home until contractions become unmanageable. If I experience extreme pain like my first birth, I will ask for an epidural at the hospital, though ideally this would be avoided. Something new we are trying this time is hypnobirthing training prior to labor - we are hoping this will help delay any need for medication. After birth, we plan to take our placenta home for later planting. I will be breastfeeding exclusively and baby will co-sleep.
