Monitrice Support
A monitrice is a Doula who is a licensed or registered healthcare provider that, in addition to Doula support, also provides clinical assessments during labor.
As a Licensed Midwife and Doula, I provide clinical assessments such as vital sign monitoring, intermittent fetal heart tone auscultation, assessment of signs and symptoms, cervical exams for dilation (only if, and when, requested), monitoring mom for signs that it's time to head to the hospital.
Monitrice support is especially helpful in situations where you would prefer to labor at home for as long as possible but would still like the benefit of being monitored for peace of mind.
It can also be especially helpful should you have a long prodromal or early labor and would prefer to be assessed at home rather than heading to the hospital too soon.
No diagnoses will be made from these assessments but they are helpful in helping you determine when to head in and give you peace of mind while you labor at home.
Midwife Moni will chart clinical assessments and report them to your provider upon hospital admission or prior, when necessary.
This service includes 2 prenatal birth planning visits
Labor monitrice/doula support in your home before heading to the hospital/birth center as well as doula support in the hospital throughout labor and birth.
1 Postpartum visit in your home (including clinical assessment upon request)
This service may also be offered a la carte on an hourly basis of $325 per hour (helpful in cases where you would just like an assessment at home in early labor but do not require full labor support)
