Due date or baby's birthday: December 19, 2023
I am almost exclusively pumping and dealing with constant clogged ducts and multiple cases of mastitis. I also am oversupplying (60-70oz per day). My son latches and will breastfeed, so I would really like to transition to exclusively breastfeeding to try and resolve the issue of mastitis and clogged ducts. Every time I try to slowly drop the amount of time I pump, I immediately get clogs all over both breast. I am at my wits end and I really need help to lower my supply. |

Meredith is looking for Lactation Consultant, Midwife, Birth Doula

Location: Baton Rouge, LA 70806, USA
Due date or baby's birthday: November 16, 2024
Plan to give vaginal birth at brg hospital like with my first child ( currently 8 months old!!). Looking back I wish I had someone in there to advocate for me more. The epidural did not work and I felt everything. I did not know how to advocate properly for myself without sounding to pushy or come off as demanding. I have some trauma from my first vaginal birth due to epidural failing and while I would like to ideally have an elective c/s, I know those are not really encouraged unless one has high risk ( AMA, which I am at 37, obesity, breech, pre eclampsia ( which I had with my first born and was able to labor down and have a vaginal birth. ). Budget depends on what all the benefits a doula can add to my next birthing experience, as well has experience. Budget probably xoikd be around 1200-2500$, I’m not sure how much a typical doula costs, but I am willing to get a typical price range and more info and hopefully being able to had the privilege of Having an experienced doula, whom I connect with and feel that they are confident in their abilities and are able to make this birthing experience much more pleasant than the last. |

I plan to give birth at brg hospital. Est. Budget could vary on experience and connection with doula. I am not sure what the usual est. cost for laboring and maybe lactation doulas are, but that is why I am inquiring. If I feel a connection and am impressed with their experience and how they plan to advocate for me. I feel my first birth ( 8 months ago) I wa snot able to advocate for myself for fear of being judged for being pushy, or annoying. I wish now I had someone with experience who is not afraid to help guide me and my husband during this laboring experience. My first and only birth was traumatic and I felt everything because the epidural did not work or wore off. So much so, I am really thinking about opting for an elective C/S, even though my ob is not too keen on that unless it is necessary. I am AMA AT 37 and this will be my second baby. I did have pre eclampsia but was able to labor down and have a vaginal delivery. I My overall outcome, of course is a healthy baby and a safe delivery with no complications. There was no lactation rise available for my first baby and even though I ending up catching on, I feel I could have benefitted with some education and encouragement from a professional in that area. |
