Milati (Laty) cared for my newborn daughter over the course of 6 weeks in fall 2024. Trusting the most precious thing in your life with someone you’ve just met sounds stressful, but Laty made it incredibly easy for us. She has a gift for making families feel comfortable and secure, even in the most vulnerable postpartum moments. My husband and I knew our baby was in great hands with Laty. She is naturally warm, gentle, and soothing with babies, no doubt from her experience raising three kids of her own. Laty always looked so excited to see our little one, and that type of genuine bond is exactly what you hope for. Beyond taking care of our daughter, Laty took great care of us as first time parents. She made life easier for us in countless ways — folding laundry, supporting me with breastfeeding, teaching me new things like how to use a breast pump, ensuring I was well hydrated, and more. She also felt like a true collaborator when it came to figuring out our systems and routines. Laty always has recommendations, but ultimately defers to the parents’ choice on how they want to do things, which is a great balance. Finally, I spent countless late night hours chatting with Laty during feeds (before we eventually introduced bottles and I got some extra sleep!). All those hours could have been exhausting and stressful. Instead, Laty’s company made that time enjoyable and lighthearted, like I was talking to an old friend. I can’t overstate how valuable it was to have the help of a doula during the early weeks of our daughter’s life. It was truly like having another team member alongside my husband and myself. Milati was dependable, proactive, and kind, and I know she would be a wonderful asset to any family with a newborn.
