Birth Doula
Edmonton, Alberta
About me

Hi my name is Madi, and I’m a mixed Acadian/Migmaw birth and end-of-life doula in the Edmonton area. I decided to become a birth worker and end-of-life doula because I believe every single person deserves an advocate. Every person deserves autonomy and the right to make decisions. Every person should be allowed access to traditional medicines. Trained through DONA, I have practiced as a birth worker for about two years. I have serviced births in every Edmonton hospital, and I have experience with at home water births. Birthing to me is a sacred act that should be seen as just that - sacred. It is beautiful, incredibly difficult, joyful and life-changing. When it comes to my end-of-life, I have been certified as an Indigenous End of Life doula via Lifting Their Minds End-of-Life Indigenous Doula Training. It is incredibly important to me to hold space for both the entrance of life, and the departure of life as both worlds can sometimes coincide. I look forward to hopefully connecting with some of you x

Service introduction

I can provide prenatal meetings to discuss birthing positions, pain management (rebozo, positions, IV medications, ways to use water, etc,) what to expect, birth plans (usually 2 birth plans,) and how to advocate for yourself to the healthcare provider. I can provide support whenever you decide to bring me on! We would plan the mentioned prenatal (2-3) appointments and I would be available anytime to answer your questions or concerns via text or phone. Come to the 37-week mark, I would deem myself on-call, and have my phone on during night hours for any potential support needed. When pre-labor or early labor begins, I'm your lady! Whether that be providing phone support until we make a hospital transition, or coming to your home whenever you want my support; I will be there to support you through it all. I have tools such as the TENs machine and a rebozo to bring along for pain management, and so many more in the doula bag! I will also stay with you to ensure no concerns with you or the baby. I will watch to ensure baby latches (if that's what you want!) and give you time to shower before you transition into the postpartum wing (or to bed if you're home!) After giving you a week or so with your new baby, I can also make an at-home visit to ensure you're doing okay. Maybe you need to talk, ask questions, cry, laugh, hug, or even give baby to me for a feed. Maybe there's a stack of laundry you just cannot get to - that's what this visit is for! Feel free to ask ANY questions
