Hi, I’m Kaila — birth mentor, labor doula, and host of A Mother Is Born. I believe birth should feel like a big deal — in the best possible way. My own experience giving birth was transformational. I felt honored, trusted, and supported throughout. It was beautiful and powerful… and also incredibly rare. Most women I know didn’t feel that way about their births — and that’s what pulled me into this work. I support women who want something more from their birth experience — whether they’re preparing for the first time or recovering from a difficult past one. I offer in-person doula support in Utah County, and virtual birth mentorship to families anywhere. I’m especially drawn to: Parents who see birth as a major life event — and want to plan it with care, not just "go with the flow" Parents who had a birth that left them feeling disappointed or traumatized — and who want a different story this time My approach is rooted in values: self-trust, autonomy, and honoring the body’s wisdom. I don’t believe in rigid checklists or cookie-cutter plans. I focus on helping you figure out what matters most to you, and then build a plan that supports that. I’ll teach you to advocate for yourself — and I’ll step in to back you up when needed. You won’t be alone. My favorite part of this work? The women. The honest conversations. The deep relationships. Watching someone grow into motherhood with intention and power is the biggest honor of my life. A few personal things: I’m a very type-B personality. The bad? My car is always a mess. The good? I am flexible, intuitive, and empathetic. In my personal time, I love learning the names of all the local plants. It's probably an even nerdier hobby than learning about birth! I have a deep weakness for dark chocolate, and never go to bed without second dinner. I truly believe that birth can be one of the most powerful and positive experiences of your life — when you have the right support. I'm excited to meet you!

Premium Mentorship & Support Package This premium package is designed for parents who want to prepare deeply, birth intentionally, and be supported through every phase of the experience—from the first prenatal to postpartum integration. 5 prenatal sessions to prepare you emotionally, physically, and logistically for birth. We’ll go deep into your values, clarify your preferences, work through fears, and build a birth plan that reflects what matters most to you. These sessions are also about preparing to advocate confidently, making informed decisions, and ensuring your partner feels ready to support you with intention. I’ll accompany you to a key prenatal appointment—typically the one where you review your birth plan with your provider. I’ll help you prepare ahead of time, support you in asking clear, aligned questions, and be there during the visit to help you interpret responses, clarify your preferences, and ensure your voice is truly heard. Personalized Mother’s Blessing: A Mother’s Blessing is a special, celebratory gathering that honors your transition into motherhood. Unlike a baby shower, it’s not about gifts or games—it’s about you. You can invite friends, family, or your support circle, and I’ll help you plan and guide a meaningful event that reflects your values and prepares you emotionally for the journey ahead. Text/phone support throughout your pregnancy: Between sessions, you’re welcome to reach out with questions, updates, or concerns. Whether you’re navigating a provider conversation, wondering what’s normal, or just need reassurance, I’m here to respond with thoughtful support and trusted resources. In-person labor and birth support - This is where it all comes together. I’ll be there to help you stay connected to your values, navigate decisions and unexpected changes in real time, and advocate for what matters most to you—offering hands-on comfort, emotional steadiness, and calm guidance through each phase. 2 postpartum visits - We’ll meet after your baby arrives to process your birth story, celebrate your strength, and talk through any parts that feel confusing or unresolved. I’ll support you in your feeding goals—whatever they look like for you—and hold space for the emotional highs and lows of your early transition into parenthood. Ongoing connection - My support doesn’t end the moment our sessions do. Clients often reach out with questions, reflections, or needs that arise after birth—and I’m here for that. If I can support you, I will. If not, I’ll help connect you to someone who can. This is for you if you’re ready to prepare for birth as a rite of passage—not just a medical event, but a transformational entry into parenthood.

Kaila is an incredible doula! She made the birth I'd dreamed of a reality. As someone who has now given birth both with an epidural and without one, this experience was far better. I’m very grateful that I had Kaila there for my birth experience, before and after! We had a precious baby girl on June 18 of this year. I was stoked to be a mom but super anxious about the whole birthing process. All of this was new to me as a first time mom. I was afraid of the pain more than anything! Kayla was so helpful in not only informing me on phases of labor (which I wasn’t aware of prior) and what to potentially expect in each scenario but she also made me feel empowered in knowing my options and making informed decisions. Kayla also helped my husband to feel a part of this process. Before we started working with Kayla, my husband was struggling with knowing how to support me and feeling quite discouraged by it. This was a big deal for us both— watching my husband’s confidence grow in his ability to support me allowed me to view the whole birthing process in a positive light. During labor, Kayla was so attentive and thorough making sure that I was comfortable, as well as ensuring that my birth plan was being honored in the hospital setting. While in labor, I realized how easy it is to not speak up for yourself when you’re in pain. I was grateful that Kayla had my back when I wasn’t able to articulate or clearly express my wishes in that moment. Eventually, I had decided to get the epidural after I felt like I couldn’t deal with the pain anymore. I felt a bit disappointed in myself. But I listened to my body and that’s what I felt I needed at that point. Kayla reminded me that my birth process wasn’t less significant because i got an epidural. She helped me to see just how powerful my birth experience truly was. I cannot recommend Kayla enough! It’s clear that she is passionate about the work she does. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to have someone as understanding, knowledgeable, and devoted as Kayla to prepare + support me in bringing my greatest blessing earth-side!

She made my unmedicated birth possible. Came to my house and helped prepare me and my husband. She taught my husband and I some coping strategies for contractions which was crucial to me when the time came. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have had Kaila as my birthing doula. I had a traumatizing medicated birth with my first and I was on the search for someone who would help me reach my goal of going unmedicated, educate and provide me with plenty of resources to help me make informed decisions, and teach me and my husband how to advocate for those decisions. Kaila checked all of the boxes and went above and beyond! She listened to my concerns and supported me and my decisions through the end! My labor was very short and I had my sweet little boy in less than an hour of arriving to the hospital. Although Kaila was only at the hospital for a short while, she wasn’t shy and hopped right in to help me get through my contractions. Because Kaila helped me gain more confidence and provided me the tools to get through labor and delivery, I was able to give birth to a 10lb health baby boy unmedicated!

Where to even start — 10/10 experience with Kaila as my doula! She is kind, SO knowledgeable, helped answer all my questions, and was respectful of my desires/wishes about my birth. Kaila was an incredible support not just for my wife but for me as well. Her calming presence made all the difference during my wife’s long labor, especially with the curveballs. She stepped in anytime she knew I needed a break, helped remind me to stay hydrated, and was there to help me physically support my wife when needed. I never had to ask for anything, she anticipated our needs perfectly. Having Kaila there allowed me to focus solely on my wife without feeling stretched too thin and her calm, steady presence was a huge comfort. When our baby had to be examined by NICU staff away from my wife, I stayed with the baby like we planned (in case of a situation like this). I was so grateful that Kaila stayed with my wife during that stressful moment because I knew my wife was in good hands. I wasn’t sure we needed a doula since this was our second baby, but I’m so glad we had her support—it really made a tough experience much smoother for both of us.

Hiring Kaila was one of the best decisions I made. From the very first meeting she was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me have a positive and empowering birth. This was my second birth so I knew what to expect going in, but my first birth taught me that curveballs are almost always a guarantee so I wanted a doula this time around to help me feel empowered and safe when those curveballs happened. My labor was pretty normal in the beginning and I was admitted to the hospital with the expectation of a fast delivery. After hours of contractions (and my water even broke), my progress stalled. I was given the choice to wait there, go home, or be induced. Kaila was so helpful during this decision making process and helped us not feel rushed to decide yet. What should have been textbook labor ended up turning into a very long, physically and emotionally draining process. But through it all Kaila was a calm, steady presence. She supported me through my contractions, guided me and my husband through helpful positions and counter pressure, reminded me of my rights when needed, and stayed by our side for the entire labor—even though it was much longer than anyone anticipated. Her expertise in body positioning and relaxation techniques was invaluable, and her kind words gave me the strength to keep going when I felt overwhelmed. When I ultimately chose to get an epidural, Kaila reassured me that every decision I made was valid and reminded me that this was my birth experience. Thanks to her encouragement and the incredible hospital team, I was able to rest, regain my strength, and move into the pushing stage feeling confident and ready. Even during a brief scare when my baby was born and had to be taken from me for five or so minutes, Kaila’s calm and reassuring presence helped me stay grounded and she held my hand tightly. And when they cleared my daughter from anything serious, Kaila asked “So can she hold her baby then?” When I didn’t have the words yet. Her care extended far beyond the delivery room too. In the months leading up to labor she helped us plan and prepare, as well as get to know us personally. She also came for a postpartum visit and even brought a thoughtful gift that made me feel so cared for. I couldn’t imagine going through that journey without Kaila. She is kind, compassionate, and truly gifted at what she does. If you’re looking for a doula who will go above and beyond to support you and your family, I absolutely recommend her!

Kaila was outstanding. My daughter was having her first child. On top of that, she was having an all natural birth. From the moment we met her all the way through the birth, she was by her side. She was actively involved the entire time. Could NOT have done this without her. She was calm, had a wonderful demeanor, so encouraging, and just basically all around the perfect person for this. Kaila was my doula for my second baby. In comparison to my first my labor was much easier and much shorter, I felt much happier and confident, and my recovery was much easier. I got to work with Kaila for some birth classes before my second child. I didn't do anything with my first and he ended up being a C-section. I've been a lot more nervous with this pregnancy but I feel so much better after Kaila worked with me. Shes super responsive and understanding of any of my desires for birth, I never felt like she was pushing her own ideas on me. She was fun to work with and did a great job explaining things. Overall, I just feel so much calmer about everything. I don't really want anyone else at delivery except my husband but if I were to have a doula present it would be her. She's just so calming and steady. You can tell she is super passionate about what she is teaching and very knowledgeable!
