Becoming a lactation consultant has been a deeply personal journey for me. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders (speech-language pathology). After my husband and I welcomed our first child, I discovered my true passion in breastfeeding and lactation. I then completed my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist certification in 2020. I began a clinical internship in 2022 at Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah, where I worked until 2024 in the mother-baby unit, NICU, and pediatric settings. I became an IBCLC in 2024 and started my private practice. My greatest joy is being a mom to my four children. I've experienced nearly every positive aspect of lactation, as well as its many challenges. I'm a social worker by education. I've spent the last 10 years working with low-income families to empower and encourage sustainability and health literacy. I became interested in birth work when I began working on a project to reduce infant mortality. I realized that many birthing persons do not realize all of the decisions that they have to make before, during and after birth. And that they do, and should, have a say in all of these decisions.
