About me

Aloha, parents! I’m Jenna Clarke. My husband & I have two beautiful daughters plus an adorable Miniature Schnauzer, and we all love to sleep. I was born and raised in Hawai’i, our girls were born in New Zealand (where my husband is from), and we recently moved to Lexington, Kentucky for a new adventure. I am an experienced pediatric sleep consultant, birth & postpartum doula, and advanced newborn care specialist. I truly believe that sleep is a foundation for our overall well being. Rested parent(s) and baby can recover quicker from birth, and the household is happier. You CAN get your child to sleep, and I can help. I have been coaching friends and clients for the past 13 years on how to achieve the sweet gift of sleep. It brings me so much joy because I know it is life-changing. For newborns, having a plan for establishing sleep hygiene and gently conditioning baby to sleep is important. For older infants, toddles and preschoolers, I utilize a range of methods (both responsive and traditional) to achieve your sleep goals. I meet with each of my clients to tailor an approach that resonates best with your parenting style and capacity. I provide virtual and in-home pediatric sleep consulting services to families across the country. Looking forward to working with you.

Book this package if you are currently pregnant or have a newborn aged 0-14 weeks. PACKAGE INCLUDES: • Newborn sleep questionnaire to collect information prior to our consultation. • One hour video consultation to discuss the unique sleep needs of your newborn and how to establish healthy sleep habits. • Nursery/ sleep space assessment so I can make recommended adjustments or suggest products and tools to optimize sleep. • Newborn sleep plan with recommended routines and settling techniques. • Four follow-up emails to be used by the time your baby is 16 weeks old.

What is the difference between a NCS, Postpartum Doula, Nanny?

I often get asked what the difference is between the postpartum care providers. In order for you to decide what provider is best for your family, you need to understand the unique distinctions. One of the main differences is level of education/ training and experience. As highlighted above, a Newborn Care Specialist has taken advanced trainings and has specialized skills caring for a newborn. A nanny or “night nanny” generally has less training and more general childcare experience. A nanny usually follows the care plan directed by the parents, whereas an NCS creates the plan with or for the parents. There are no set training requirements for nannies, whereas an NCS or postpartum doula does. A postpartum doula also completes training as a postpartum care provider, but the focus is slightly different. While an NCS usually focuses more on direct newborn care and parent education, a postpartum doula supports the entire family through birth recovery, healing and adjusting to life with baby.

What is a Newborn Care Specialist?

A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is a highly trained and experienced newborn/ infant care provider. I provide direct newborn care and parent education and stay up to date on research with the latest guidelines and recommendations. Newborn Care Specialists have advanced education on how to address a range of issues and unique challenges that can arise with newborns. I am active in my local and national networks of colleagues and can make referrals to providers as needed. I have training and experience working with twins, premature babies, breast and bottle feeding & milk storage, sleep shaping, and more.
