Hi! I’m Jaya Mallik (she/her), a birth and postpartum doula in Maple Valley, WA, where I live with my husband, Nathan, and our two daughters, Asha and Diya. My journey into doula work began with my own birth experiences. After an emergency first birth and postpartum depression, I found healing during my second birth with the support of a culturally aligned doula who empowered me and honored my values. Her guidance inspired me to provide the same compassionate care to others. As a Woman of Color and current DEI practitioner, I’m committed to addressing healthcare inequities and ensuring every birthing person feels empowered and supported through this transformative journey.

Every parenting journey is special and deserves care that feels as unique as you are. My mission is to provide steady, practical support while empowering families to navigate the healthcare system with confidence and ease. Together, we’ll ensure you feel strong, valued, and deeply cared for every step of the way. I offer both birth and postpartum doula services, and I can support you in either one or both, based on your unique needs as a growing family and birthing parent.
I am so glad that we chose Jaya to be our birth and postpartum doula. I had a long and difficult labor that ultimately ended in a caesarean section, and her warm and grounded support was a critical component to keeping it a positive experience. Her presence allowed my partner to take much needed breaks and gave me another person to lean on. She stepped in wherever needed. I requested that she take photographs and am so grateful that in the blur of the operating room, she still managed to capture our son's first moments with us. Once our son was home and we were struggling to get enough sleep, we used Jaya's postpartum services to give us the reset that we needed. We felt entirely comfortable letting her care for our newborn while we got a night of rest, interrupted only by her coming to me when he needed to be breastfed (at my request). Jaya is knowledgeable, confident, and just a really nice person to be around - I cannot recommend her enough.

Jaya is an amazing advocate for maternal wellness, especially for women of color. She was essential part of my support team during my pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. In addition to her excellent support, she found me the resources I needed in so many areas including mental health care, lactation, to baby care. I had a difficult delivery and bad experience with some of the providers at the hospital where I delivered. Jaya stepped in, immediately advocating for me with hospital staff and administration - ensuring that mine and my baby’s care were of the highest standard. She is a thoughtful and compassionate person who is not afraid to support you in making tough decisions during challenging times. I am so incredibly lucky to have had her support and friendship in my journey to becoming a mom.

Jaya was absolutely phenomenal with the birth of my second child! I had a much more challenging pregnancy the second time around and Jaya helped coach me through my gestational diabetes diagnosis. With the diagnosis, I was terrified, but Jaya helped give me actionable steps and emotional support so that it quickly became manageable throughout my third trimester. After my daughter was born, Jaya was incredibly helpful. She helped with whatever I needed, delivering food, some light cleaning, helping with the baby and made space for me to get the rest I needed while she handled the chores around the house. I'm not someone who accepts help easily, but Jaya was so supportive and caring, it was easy to trust her while I got some much needed rest. She anticipated needs before I could vocalize them and was a cheerleader at times when I most needed the support. I would HIGHLY recommend Jaya as a Doula - you and your little one would be in the BEST hands possible.
