I’ve been a doula for nine years, I’ve attended 300+ births throughout the NY/NJ area. I’m a CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor), Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and a registered yoga instructor specializing in Pre/Postnatal movement. I manage and, am the Program Director for Montclair BABY. I have a keen sense of what’s happening in each hospital and Birth Center thanks to the partnerships I’ve formed which many of my clients find comforting. I work collaboratively with hospital staff, OB providers and partners to ensure you have a safe, informed and loving birth experience.
What an amazing experience it was to have Jade as our doula. I felt so supported, understood, and cared for. She guided us every step of the way with lots of knowledge and tons of warmth. I had some complications with my pregnancy, she had excellent resources and providers to refer me to. She always went above and beyond. Recommend her to anyone else with all my heart. She is truly the best in my opinion.

Jade is simply amazing. She is a wonderful caring person and went above and beyond to enhance our birth experience. She is hands on, gives wonderful advice, has great network of other professionals at her disposal. I don't think words can really describe our experience. Just go with her, you will not regret it.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience working with Jade Newkirk. She is extremely knowledgeable and experienced on all aspects of childbirth. She made my wife feel comfortable leading up to, during and after the birth of our son. First time pregnancy can be very stressful for women and Jade is an amazing resource who will help you carry out your birth plan. Looking back, I am so happy we had Jade during this time.

As a pregnant mom the second time around I was filled with a multitude of emotions. I survived a c section and knew I wanted a different experience. Although nervous and somewhat anxious about the road ahead I decided it would be best to work with a professional; someone who would be able to coach me through and provide support during my trial of labor. When I contacted Jade I knew immediately that I wanted to work with her. Her energy was calming and she spoke with me for 45 minutes before we made any arrangements to proceed. When I explained my first birth story she automatically offered information and insight that no one had offered before. As we began our working relationship Jade not only assured me I could deliver naturally, but made sure I was aware of providers who would support my decision. I initially thought Doula's only offered assistance during labor, but she was so much more than just my birth coach and support person. She really cared about my story and wanted to ensure I received the care and treatment leading up to labor that I was entitled to. When Jade realized that my initial provider was not as supportive as they once alluded to, she worked hard to help me identify a Vbac supportive provider the week before my due date. I was able to switch providers in my 39th week and deliver a healthy happy baby boy. This demonstrates her compassion and dedication to those she serves. I learned so much working with Jade and now I feel compelled to share my story with all moms to be. Jade allowed me to recognize that as women we are in control of our bodies and birth, its our God given right. If it werent for Jade I know I would have ended up with another c section. With her by my side I was able to have a healing birth and share my newly found knowledge with other women who may benefit. I will forever be grateful!

Jade was a lifesaver to our family. She was my prenatal yoga instructor, lactation consultant and glad to now call her my friend. She was the person that helped me realize my infant had a milk protein allergy. Because of her, we were able to figure out a treatment and now we have a happy baby. She was such a great support system in difficult times. 5 stars

My wife is a very reserved, private person, so when I suggested we consider hiring a doula, she was apprehensive. After we met Jade, we both knew immediately that we would not only be comfortable with, but had to have her at our child's birth. Jade offered a holistic approach to the whole process, and while she offered endless advice, she never judged or pressured us with her own opinions. She helped us feel prepared and at ease before the actual birth, but her being with us that night was invaluable. She helped my wife stay comfortable and know what to do, but did this in a way that allowed me to be there for her too, without worrying about everything else that was going on. We have been told our labor and delivery was a quick, easy one (as far as they go), but I can't imagine doing it without Jade. For those going through longer experiences, I absolutely cannot imagine how we could have done it without her by our sides. It felt natural having her accompany us through this special time. She genuinely got to know us and made us feel comfortable contacting her and sharing these moments with her. Her help as a lactation consultant put us both at ease and left my wife feeling more confident to do what she knows she can. Her advice and experience was greatly appreciated from these two only children who have no real exposure to babies. I would recommend her as a must-have component in any pregnancy.

Up until getting pregnant I never knew what a Doula was, and until I gave birth i never knew how important they are. Jade was in the room with my husband and I. She was an amazing guide and kept us informed and prepared for all the curves that came our way during the long 24 hours. Jade is amazing at what she does. She was with us before, during and after...even days after when I was having BF issues. I'm eternally grateful and forever connected to our Doula. She helped bring our sweet baby girl into this world.

Jade has been my birth doula for my first and second babies and all that came in between. She helped me learn what I wanted out of the labor and birth experience, and how to advocate for myself. She provided invaluable advice and also became a supportive friend in the process. I am certain that my birth stories turned out more positive because of Jade’s support. People think they don’t need a doula or don’t need one a second time, but I cannot stress enough the importance of a personal advocate and support system through this time of your life. Jade is kind and caring, knowledgeable and strong. I can’t imagine giving birth without her by my side.

She is a tenacious advocate for parents and their children. I can’t speak highly enough about how much she has supported my friends and family throughout the whole pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding process - and beyond!

TLDR: My husband and I were on the fence about the need for a doula. We are extremely happy that we met [and ultimately hired] Jade. For some background: I gave birth in September 2023 to my first/only child. My husband and I had never considered hiring a doula to assist with the birth. We hired Jade, towards the end of my third trimester. We met Jade through a Montclair B.A.B.Y birthing class that she was teaching. Right off the bat, she was very warm and welcoming, and offered lots of great information over the course of our full day session. We walked away from the class thinking that it would be great to have someone like her in our corner on the day-of for delivery. We reached out to Kelli, from Montclair B.A.B.Y, to help us with contacting/coordinating with Jade, and found out that she had a handful of clients who had similar due dates as mine. Jade couldn’t promise to be available when I went into labor, but was willing to work with us, and assured us that Kelli would be her backup, in case she was unavailable because of another delivery. The next step was to schedule a virtual meeting with her & Kelli to get to know each other. We also covered a questionnaire, which I received ahead of time, so that Jade could learn about our concerns, what we would actively dislike vs what we find comforting, what my birthing plan/goals would entail, etc. After our meeting, and prior to giving birth, Jade checked in several times to find out how I was feeling, if there were any developments from my doctor visits, and to let me know what I could expect from my upcoming doctor appointments. I was lucky enough to have an uncomplicated pregnancy & delivery, but hearing from Jade via text was reassuring. On the day that I went into labor, Jade was already at the hospital assisting with another birth, and Kelli was unavailable due to a family emergency. Forest early delivery she was available by phone and by text to guide me through what was happening, how I could alleviate some of the pain, and coordinated with my husband about timing for getting to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital, Jade met us in the lobby, helped us through check-in, and stayed with us until we were through PET and admitted into L&D. From there, she spent a brief amount of time bouncing between my room and her other client (with that client’s permission), and tagged in another doula to stay with me during the times where she was in the other room, to ensure that I remained comfortable. She was able to spend a majority of the time with me, and stayed with me through the duration of my active delivery. Overall, her services were invaluable. My husband and I agree that the day would have been chaotic and overwhelming without her.
