I am happily married to my best friend, and we are blessed with three wonderful sons. My interest in birth and breastfeeding has always been a passion of mine. The birth of my first son was at the hospital and was a life-changing experience that ignited a fire within me. I knew then that I wanted to support families as they welcomed, nourished, and nurtured new life. I became a certified doula in January of 2021 and began attending births. Being welcomed into someone's birth space is an incredible honor. Witnessing the transformative and miraculous experience of birth is truly awe-inspiring. In 2022, we welcomed our second baby at home, and the night and day difference in my experiences solidified my dream of becoming a midwife. I am excited to learn and grow as a student midwife and to serve families. When I am not attending births, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, reading, and cooking.

My journey to becoming a midwife started as a young mother living in a small town with very limited resources for natural birth. That sparked a desire in me to seek a path so that women could have more natural and individual choices. I believe women are perfect and amazing and know how to birth in a beautiful way. They are expert at this whether it's their first baby or twentieth baby. As a midwife, my desire is to come alongside and support them as they learn this about themselves.

I have been part of the birth world for over 30 years. I have assisted birth since I was 20 years old. I have been a certified DONA doula for over 20 years and have loved every birth. I delivered all 9 of my children at home and respect the mother in her birth space. I believe that pregnancy is not an illness and childbirth is natural. I support and encourage women and families to be the ones making the decisions regarding their health and well-being. For all of history, up until the last century or two, birth was a uniquely feminine and sacred event supported by midwives, mothers, sisters, friends, and neighbors. Mothers were given the space, trust, and respect to intuitively birth their children, just as their bodies were designed to. In the 20th century, the modernization of birth care, intended to increase safety, unfortunately pushed labor support out the picture. Doctors became more concerned with outcomes alone than with the transformative experience of birth, itself. The emergence of doulas in the developed world was a desperate and necessary response to the all-too-common technocratic birthing model that has changed society’s entire view and practice of giving birth. The culture of non-medical labor support is thankfully not lost. Women deserve the same sanctity, respect, and space to do what their bodies know best now, as they did for all those centuries. I believe supporting the birth experience in its traditional light is my calling.
