I am looking for a lactation consultant to help with latching when baby comes. i will be giving birth at UNC Rex at Hollysprings. Looking for it to be covered with medicaid insurance. my birth plan is a healthy mom and baby and preferably a vaginal delivery. this is my second baby and i tried breastfeeding with my first but he didn’t latch good so i exclusively pumped and i really don’t want to go that route this time.

I need help with starting a successful journey for breast feeding. My baby is 4 days old and he has had some moments of strong consistent latching. However during difficult feeding moments where latching is not successful I used a bottle because I was concerned about my baby not getting enough to eat through the day & night. Now after several desperate attempts to just make sure he is eating (used bottle), it seems like he is not latching on to the breast at all. I am looking for lactation/breastfeeding/baby-feeding counseling and support that is inclusive of bottle feeding as soon as possible, and also supportive of combo feeding and incorporating formula as needed, while still working to establish and maintain breastmilk supply. I disagree with the positions taken by organizations like La Leche League and if a provider pushes exclusive breastfeeding, we will NOT be a good fit.
