About me

I began my doula journey in 2021 and currently have a partnership with a hospital in Torrance, CA. I am still working towards my labor doula certification with CAPPA and plan on submitting all required paperwork by fall 2024. Considering that I am still working on my certification I am still working on building the additional skills I would be able to offer, for now I will be focusing on emotional/educational support regarding what is happening to your body and movements/positions that may provide moments of relief in between contractions. I feel it is important to note that in no way am I coming in to fill the role of a supportive partner but rather someone who can give pointers and be a source of support for both soon to be parents. Another talent that I feel comfortable offering would be to take pictures of the birth or just after, considering I used to be a PhotoPass Photographer at Disneyland.

Service introduction

I have always loved babies and over the years of working with kids at schools and at Disneyland it became more and more evident to me that I prefer them to be as close to the womb as possible! They are just so cute, precious, and have so so so many new things happening for them and in them over these first few months being in the womb and then just after delivery as well. I love to be a source of support and provide more education to those that are open and willing to learn and talk more about the amazing things that happen during childbirth. As of right now I am only able to be of support as a labor doula or for any photography needs.

Labor Doula
Here are some things to know about working with me as your labor doula: I would be on call for the two weeks before your due date, but of course available to talk before then. The goal would be that we are able to meet two or three times before the baby comes, but for two births I have assisted with those babies came a little earlier than planned so hopefully we would be able to meet before then! Just like I did with the previous families I have worked with, I will follow your lead on when you would like me to meet you at the hospital or if you wanted me to come and wait out the first part of labor with you in your home I would be able to do that. I will be by your side the entire time at the hospital and I would be happy to stay as long as you would like me to after your delivery. One of the last births I assisted with, I stayed with the family for 13 hours after the baby was delivered just to get the start of breastfeeding going and making sure everyone felt comfy. If needed (but I do not think it will be), I would be happy to connect with one of the roughly 30 doula's that I am aware of to see if anyone can be a backup doula if for some reason I was unable to attend the birth. I would make sure that we would both be able to be there for you just in case, but I do not plan on having any upcoming trips so I plan on be around when the baby is ready to make their debut.

I cannot express how grateful I am to have had Courtneys help and support during my birthing journey. I did not have the birth that I planned, and having Courtney there helping me go through each step was a blessing. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but her empathy, support, and reliability were invaluable. I will be requesting her support for all future pregnancies. She is the best.
