I dread every feeding. The latch hurts at the beginning every time. Sometimes I need to try the latch several times. The feeding is always uncomfortable throughout. He is getting enough milk and I am producing, but I am ready to stop because it's is so painful and uncomfortable.

I’ll give birth at hospital Kaiser Vacaville. Our budget is variable depending on set price. I know I’ll have my 3 rd section and I have two boys now a 7 year old and a 3 year old. This is my fourth baby. Her latch seemed fine for awhile. When she was around 3 or 4 weeks old, I noticed a lot of pain. I had cracks all around the base of my nipples. I saw a lactation consultant at my hospital and she said my baby has a high palate. She recommended trying breast shields until I heal and then try again with a deeper latch. The breast shields haven't worked so I have been pumping. I let my nipples heal and then tried again with a deeper latch but it happened again and my nipples were in so much pain. My desire is to breastfeed though. I want to see if there's anything I can do to make that happen. I need a lactation consultant to help me figure out if I can nurse again and how to care for my nipples.

Workshops or certificates of attendance are not acceptable substitutes. Certifying organizations include but are not limited to DONA International, Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA), International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA), and BirthWorks International.
