Hello! I’m Claire, my full time role is as an assistant professor of midwifery, based at the University of Birmingham here in the UK. Through my clinical midwifery career, I have worked in the community, as a birth centre midwife, and my personal passion, as a specialist perinatal midwife. I trained as a massage therapist in 2000, and have since studied massage styles from all around the world, including Hawaiian Lomi Lomi (my favourite!), chinese Tuina, Ayurvedic massage, Thai and Indonesian spa treatments as well as pregnancy, labour and birth, postnatal and infant massage. I’m also trained in rewind trauma therapy and have some experience in NLP, and I’m also a hypnobirthing teacher which I love to combine with massage, one to one and/or for couples together. I love teaching partners massage, as I feel this is where deep calm, comfort and connection forms the foundations of strong family relationships strengthened by touch. I also provide practical study days for midwives, student midwives, doulas, and antenatal educators to enhance massage and touch skills for partners giving massage through pregnancy and birth.
