As a first time mom, I’m still learning breastfeeding and pumping and would really appreciate guidance with things like latch, positioning, milk supply, pumping, engorgement, and making sure my baby is feeding well. I’m hoping to find someone who is patient, reassuring, and experienced with supporting moms in the early postpartum period. I’m also interested in nighttime help so my partner and I can get some rest. Since my baby arrived a little early, it’s especially important to me to find someone who is experienced with newborns and early term/preterm babies. I’d love to hear about your experience, availability, what your overnight services include, whether you provide lactation support or are an IBCLC, and your rates/minimum number of hours. I am looking for a birth and postpartum doula that is covered by Kaiser insurance, who is very knowledgeable about the birth process, potential complications and newborn care, who is open to attending hospitals births. I am planning to give birth at Kaiser South Bay Harbor City. I would like to labor at home with my partner and the doula for as long as possible until it’s time to go to the hospital. I am open to an epidural at the hospital but if I’m doing okay or labor is progressing quickly I am open to not getting one. I hope for an uncomplicated vaginal birth. I’d like the doula to know the difference between interventions that might be offered to me at the hospital that are not necessary and what is necessary/ will help my baby to be born healthy.
