Planning to do a natural birth in a birthing home with my immediate family around. Not sure what my budget is but hoping my insurance can cover it. This is my first pregnancy so I don’t know what to expect when doing a natural birth in a birthing home. I just want it to be peaceful, no epidural, wanting to go as natural as possible. Nice spacious room, water for a soothing pool birth and the most loving and caring midwife. I will be having my spouse by my side through the whole process and then family come in after baby is born.

we are an interracial couple with deep Christian faith. this is our first baby and I am an older mama at 38 y/o. having someone who is deeply experienced as well as a Christian is important to us and if they were a black woman that would be very meaningful. we value the holistic, low/no-toxic lifestyle and would like to have minimal medical interventions, though we know with my advanced age we may need to deliver in a hospital. with that, we would like to have someone that will help us prepare for birth, be an educator and advocate, as well as be present at the birth, so we can focus on one another and be as present as possible to the experience. We are also looking for someone who have help us transition for a few weeks after birth into postpartum (that can be different from the brith doula but same preferences apply). This may include overnights to help with sleep or postpartum care for mama, as well as meal planning and any lactation support. this is all new to us, so we want to create a team that can help support us through the process and budget.
