My name is Ashley Gopaul. I am a state certified full spectrum Doula & Certified Lactation Consultant. I started my journey as a doula in 2021 while finishing my last semester at VCU with my Bachelors in Health Sciences. I started with Birth In Color RVA as an intern finishing my requirements for graduation and left my internship ….as a doula ! Working as a doula is truly such a rewarding field as I am allowed the opportunity to create a safe space for my clients to be vulnerable, empowered, deconstruct stigmas, and really get into their lives to optimize a safe birth as well as set them up for a successful start to parenthood. With the help of my mentor and experience, I then opened “Lily’s Birth Boutique,” to further expand support to my community. Whether I am helping a first time or a fifth time parent, every experience is so unique and is truly a learning experience even for myself. On a personal note, my side interests and hobbies include playing with interior design, spending time with family, and dance !

Lily’s Birth Boutique offers prenatal , perinatal, and postpartum support as well as lactation specialist services. Prenatal visits entail birth planning, childbirth education/anatomy of childbirth, hands-on techniques for comfort in labor, and postpartum prep. Perinatal support entails birth support , offered virtually or in-person for local clients of Richmond, Va. Birth support includes hand-on comfort (massage, counter pressure, acupressure), advocacy and assistance with facilitating conversations between clients and clinic staff to provide comprehensive care, and emotional/ mental health support through labor, birth, and immediately post-delivery. Postpartum care includes one on one sessions to discuss and monitor nutrition, routines, feeding, sleeping, mental health, and other aspects to increase overall wellness and reduce anxiety surrounding parenthood/life with newborn.
