Service introduction

It's so important to us at The WOMB to build trust + reliability. That is why The WOMB Doulas work as a team providing primary and secondary (or back up) support, and have access to a wealth of team resources. We provide extensive support from a multi-disciplinary team that all inform how we support you through your birth experience and first parenting months. We work along with and have access to the knowledge and education provided by pelvic health physiotherapists, naturopathic doctors, lactation consultants, and more! Each doula receives breastfeeding + infant feeding mentorship with WOMB lactation consultants, have current infant CPR + First Aid Certification, a Police Record Check and work in a variety of birth settings and with a variety of families from diverse backgrounds. The doula team shares with each other their extensive knowledge and training in: Spinning Babies Childbirth education Hypnobirthing Lactation education Infant + pregnancy loss support Perinatal mental health Midwifery assistant certifications Same-sex couple support Intimate Partner Violence Healthcare discrimination and bias

Postnatal Doula Support
The role of the postnatal doula is a fluid role that adapts and changes with the changing needs of the family. Doulas effectively coach new parents to become the “experts” of their baby, while offering tools, education and support. These include: Lactation support Bottle feeding / supplemental feeding support / pumping Emotional support (especially as fatigue grows) Assistance with laundry, meal prep and home prep for the next day Teaching parents how to understand their baby(ies) cues, care for, soothe and comfort their baby(ies) Providing resources for anything that they, their baby(ies) or their family is going through Normalization of healthy baby sleep Reduce the risk of postpartum mood disorders and at least help identify issues and refer as necessary
