Service introduction

I offer a phone interview to make sure we are a good fit practically and philosophically, an in-person interview to discuss my services and your questions, and another one or two meetings at your home to prep you for the birth. I then go on-call for you starting two weeks before your estimated due date until you give birth. Finally, I will come to visit you after you've settled in at home to see how you are getting on and assist you with any questions you may have. I have infinite resources at my disposal to refer you to for information and services, depending on your unique situation. People often confuse those services with what they expect from their Nurse, Midwife/Ob, Support person, or Friend, however a doula is a completely unique part of your birth team. You may choose to reach out to me with questions anytime throughout your pregnancy, you may choose to have me come to your house anytime during your labor and I will stay with you throughout your labor. Nurses and Midwives do not usually stay with the laboring woman throughout her labor. Midwives do the catching just as OBs do, Nurses have other duties besides supporting the laboring mother. As far as support people are concerned, a doula has vastly more experience, knowledge and know-how--doulas trust the body's ability to birth, know the process of birth with all it's variations, tips and tricks for coping with the intensity or pain and any difficulties that may arise, and how to support a mother with and without interventions.
