About me

Welcome to Pura Vida Eastern Wellness Current Acupuncture Student at the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine, well versed in treating fertility issues, pregnancy and postpartum recovery through the use of acupressure, prenatal and pediatric massage and herbal nutrition. Helping Arizona birthing families have physically empowering pregnancies, childbirth and postpartum recovery since 2019. Pura Vida uses the three critical elements of physical empowerment to achieve that: Holistic self-care, movement and awareness. Why Pura Vida? The name of Pura Vida", signifies a relaxed attitude towards life, including its ups and downs, and an easy-going nature. With the help of a doula, this is the type of approach we would like all mums to have during the pregnancy and birthing process, as well as during parenthood. One of the foundations of Pura Vida is following the mindfulness values provided by Midwife, Nancy Bardacke, who wrote "Mindful Birthing". Your doula will provide training and practice in the use of mindfulness not only during pregnancy and labor/delivery, but also in your transition to parenthood. Both mums and dads can benefit from mindfulness, and there is also research showing that mindfulness can maintain a healthy relationship for parents as well.

Postpartum Doula Support
WAYS IN WHICH OUR POSTPARTUM DOULA CAN SUPPORT YOU: ♥ Staying with baby to allow parents to nap, shower, eat, spend time with other children in the family ♥ Assisting you in the hospital if other parent needs to care for children at home ♥ Help learning how to read baby's cues, cries and expressions T Tea ♥ Teaching various ways of newborn swaddling and baby wearing ♥ Breastfeeding and bottle feeding support ♥ Infant CPR/First Aid Classes as American Red Cross Instructor ♥ Breast pump guidance, pumping & storing expressed milk ♥ Tips on calming & soothing baby ♥ Help with baby's bath ♥ Mindful Parenting Education classes About Overnight Care At night a Doula cares for baby and helps them get back to sleep if they wake often, as their circadian rythyms are not established in the early weeks. If mother is breastfeeding a Doula will bring baby to mama so that she can nurse and after they finish, the Doula burps, changes their diaper and rocks baby back to sleep. If your baby is bottle fed the Doula prepares bottles and feeds baby so that he parents may sleep through the night or wake only for pumping. When baby is sleeping soundly a Doula can do laundry, meal prep and organize the nursery, granted they are not disruptive to the sleep of the family. Baby is typically kept cozy in their bassinet near Doula in a room outside of their parents or in their nursery so that parents may enjoy an evening of less interrupted sleep. Many parents choose to have a night Doula help out one to three days a week, especially if they have to return to work early on, birth multiples such as twins, or have older siblings in the house that require them to be better rested. Some parents opt for every week day night. Typical night hours are 8 hours, from 9pm to 5am or 10pm to 6am. Postpartum Doula Support includes: * One complimentary consultation to meet in person or virtually to see if we are a good fit for each other. (If you haven't booked birth support) * Six (6) total postpartum visits (at home) to help with your needs, newborn education, newborn support, meal prep and more. (Recommended twice in one week or once within two weeks) *Sibling and Newborn care is available by request additional $15/hourly We can provide custom weekly package for you as well (long term care)
