After working in the nutrition space as a private practice dietitian for several years, I started to realize how much the conventional recommendations leave us hanging when it some to fertility, prenatal, and postpartum nutrition. This is arguably the time in life when nutrition matters most but few providers talk much about nutrition at all. At most, you may received a handout on what foods to avoid. But that leaves you not knowing what to actually eat. Because our current recommendations on prenatal nutrition are lacking, I went head first into the literature to learn more about this topic. Unfortunately, it’s not one we learned much about in my nutrition classes! I realized I loved working with this population and wanted to help women and couples on their journey to having a healthy baby. In addition to pregnancy related nutrition, I also specialize in eating disorders so I want to make food non stressful and pleasurable again. Food shouldn’t be a chore. Food is not just fuel, it is our way to show love, to connect with others, to change our quality of life, and to impact the future health of our children (and even grandchildren). I am passionate about helping people sift through the plethora of nutrition information that can be found on the internet to refocus on what is most specific to them and their circumstance. I strive to continually learn and better my practice in order to bring the best advice possible to my clients.
