About me

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Service introduction

What to Expect From Your Birth Doula: As your birth doula, I’m here to support you in every way I can, helping you feel as prepared and supported as possible during your birthing experience. Here’s how I can be there for you: 2-3 Initial Meetings: Our first few meetings are all about getting to know each other, talking through your birth preferences, and planning for postpartum care. I want to understand your hopes and needs so I can support you exactly how you want/need. On Call 2 Weeks Before Your Due Date: I’ll be available to you day or night, two weeks before your estimated due date, ready to support you whenever labour begins. Unlimited Texts & Calls: Whether you have questions, need reassurance, or just want to chat, I’m here for you anytime. Labour & Birth Support: I’ll be with you throughout labour, offering physical, emotional, informative support, and a calm presence to help you feel safe and empowered. Postpartum Support: After your little one arrives, I stay for 2-3 hours to help with chestfeeding/bodyfeeding and support you as you settle in. I’m here to help with any questions or challenges that arise. Follow-Up Visits: I’ll visit you within 24-48 hours after birth and provide additional home visits (2-3 times) up to 4 weeks postpartum to offer ongoing support and guidance. Amateur Birth Photography (iphone): I love capturing some of the precious moments of birth (with your permission, of course). I offer light, amateur photography to help you remember the beauty and power of the experience. What to Expect From Your Postpartum Doula: After your baby arrives, the fourth trimester can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support both you and your baby so you can rest, heal, and bond. Here’s what you can expect from my postpartum doula services: 2-3 Initial Meetings: Just like with birth doula support, we’ll have a few initial meetings to talk about your expectations, plan for postpartum care, and make sure I understand exactly how I can best support you. In-Home Support (2-6 Hour Increments): I offer flexible in-home support, helping with everything from baby care to light household tasks so you can focus on taking care of yourself. Chestfeeding/Bodyfeeding Support: If you're navigating feeding, I’m here to help you with whatever you need, whether it’s offering advice, positioning help, or just being there for emotional support. Baby Care: I’ll assist with baby care so you can get the rest you need. Whether it’s a nap, a shower, or just a moment of peace, I’ve got you covered. Practical Help Around the House: I’ll lend a hand with meal prep, light cleaning, and anything else that might help take the load off, allowing you to focus on your recovery and bonding with your baby. Pricing & Sliding Scale: Birth Fees: $1450 Postpartum Fees: $35hr or 15hr bundle for $475 Sliding Scale: I offer a sliding scale based on income or circumstances, because I truly believe that every birthing individual deserves to have a supportive birth bestie in their corner. I’m committed to ensuring my services are accessible, and I’ll work with you to find a fee that feels fair and right. It’s my honour to serve all birthing preferences in a gender-affirming space where you can feel seen, supported, and respected no matter your identity or your journey.
